Extremely sharp from corner to corner. Very difficult to provoke chromatic aberrations even at the fastest aperture. Rendering and contrast is perfect for me, Im sure many people will agree as well.

sharp enough (same or better than Sony 55/1,8). beautiful color rending with character. well control CA (better than 55/1.8)bigger and heavy, but balanced on Sony a7iii, (Im ready with that before buying). my rating 9/10

This is a great lens for the Sony E mount system. Super sharp and works great as a general purpose lens. I personally dont so much macro, but for general purpose photography the focus throw doesnt bother me at all as Im not focusing super close on my subject.

Modern lenses can offer more than optical quality. Image stabilization (IS) and auto focus make the frequency of great capture much higher. This lens is as great optically as my old leitz sumicrons but much bigger and heavier.

Has quickly become my favorite lens for the sony A7rIII. Great for macro, portrait and all the in betweens. Great 'old school' feel. I love it.

Some aspects of the two shorter (55 and 28mm) OTUS lenses are a trifle better than this lens, but the reverse is also true. This monster is so sharp that it can (if everything is just right) produce a basically perfectly sharp image corner to corner wide open at f/2.
