I wanted a newer monopod and thought one with a 3 leg base with be more versatile. I reviewed several. Some more expensive and some a bit less. I decided I did not want to spend a fortune for carbon fiber, etc. I have a Vanguard Heavy Duty Tri-Pod and just went with this monopod.
Originally I bought the Veo AM-264TR to assist with lighting on a wedding shoot. It was held by my assistant for the shoot with a Cactus CB 60 Softbox mounted and a Cactus RF 60 Flash - being triggered with a Cactus V6 on camera. This proved to be a superb and versatile lighting configuration.
Size, Design, Ease of Use, Wrist Strap, Supports Camera with Grip and longer lens (50-500), Perfect for Travel, Compact, Usable in places where a tripod is too large, Great accessory for lighting.
So far so good. Paired it with a nice Manfrotto video fluid head that I already had and works great.
This monopod is sturdy yet lightweight and supports my Canon 100-400mm lens with 1.4x extender as I had intended it for. At 1.2 lbs it will be in my backpack and used as a hiking stick when not in use to photograph birds on my upcoming trip to Scotland.
This monopod is a great value. Very well-built and easy to use. In addition to steadying a camera in normal use, it can also be used as a handheld boom in conjunction with a gimbal such as the Zhiyun Crane 2.
Stable and versatile.
very handy and light
I received the Vanguard Monopod last week and used it this past weekend on a photoshoot "walkabout."It is light weight, but sturdy. I love the convenience of the fold down and fold up legs. I would buy this again.
Very well built, and will assist me with lower to the ground photos that will help me from not opening up my larger tripods. Also, a good travel tripod, especially being used in the wilds.
I love that monopod, at first i was not sure on the quality since it was one of the cheapest available including the fluid head. But i am really impressed. Well made and works perfectly would recommend it if you are on a budget!
