There's often money to be saved by buying a complete kit that includes both tripod and a tripod head in one package. In this case, however, the Vanguard Alta Pro 263AT legs sell for around £125 on their own and the GH-100 pistol grip head is available for about £85 if you shop around.
This is a good stable tri-pod. Not the best for a long hike since it is several inches long when folded and heavy. I have carried it several times on hikes and works really well for long exposer pictures such as waterfalls. You can use it for macro shooting and get close to your subject also.
being plastic everthing loosens up so looses tightness on adjustment screws

I bought this tripod for its ability to adjust to a variety of angles (including horizontal for overhead shots without the need to buy an extension arm) very quickly and easily, and because it's relatively lightweight and portable.
I have been using this tripod/grip head combo for a few weeks and so far so good. The Alta Pro Legs are nice and easy to adjust in both the angle and length. The tilting center shaft is great for using binoculars when sitting, however I needed to purchase the rock bag to weight down the tripod so it...
Head:-Nifty, quick to point.-QR is indeed very quick and secure.-Trigger very secure.-Not smooth enough movement for video however.-Head does not tilt back far enough for shooting much above horizon.
I'm using my old 5D mkiii as a B-roll video camera for live events and was looking a sturdy tripod with ball grip to quickly adjust. I attended PPA's conference in San Antonio where they had a display and this tripod fit the bill. It's also adjustable to get very low and do macro shots.
This tripod is great. The pistol grip head holds my Canon 6D with the 70-200 perfectly and I can move the head to multiple angles with confidence that the camera is not going anywhere I do not want it to. The tripod itself is not too heavy and the camera sits well on it.
Great product. Seems lighter than my last carbon fiber Manafrotto!
A friend of mine had one that I borrowed a long with a few others that I tried. This was by far the best tripod I had ever used and just had to buy one for myself. It took me a while to save up for it but it is well worth the money.
I do a great deal of real estate photography professionally, and this tripod is perfect for this work.
