Vanguard 8x42 Endeavor ED II Binocular

The Vanguard Endeavor ED II 10x42 proved to be an outstanding pair of binoculars. The 8x32 was a tad weaker but still very good. The Endeavor ED II 8x42 got more points than the 8x32 but, at the same time, it had more evident slip-ups in the test.

  solid casing,, moderate chromatic aberration, not bothersome astigmatism,, excellent distortion control,, very low coma,, sharp image across the whole field of view,, low brightness loss on the edge of the field of view,, good quality prisms made of BaK-4 glass,, sharp image already from a distance...

  real field of view narrower than declared,, very significantly truncated exit pupils,, too low transmission level at this price point.

These are the first pair of binoculars I've ever owned. And so far I love them. Image appears clear and bright. CA is slight and only noticeable in a few situations. Open bridge leaves a lot of room for hands to solidly grip binos. Focus wheel turns nice, is metal and feels solid.

Overwhelmed I was greatly impressed by the detail achievable with my newly acquired Vanguard Endeavor ED II 8x42 Binocular . I had read the reviews and chose these for their highly acclaimed quality.

These binoculars are first rate! They are easy to focus, clear and bright. Best of all, they lock into place so that they don't have to be readjusted every time you use them. The clarity and magnification make them ideal for bird watchers.

A great pair of binoculars for wildlife viewing.

Took these to the Colorado mountains. The best binoculars we've ever had...even spotted the moons of Jupiter!
