Really Disappointed that this didn't work with my WiiU or my PS4. Took too long to set up and then wouldn't communicate correctly so I'll have to look into alternatives for exterior storage for my systems
I have been using it on a USB 1.0 plug, though I believe it may work on USB 2.0. So I can't really comment on speed except that I notice it goes to sleep after a period of inactivity. It doesn't take long to get it up again.
It works on Windows 7 and 8, the operating systems of my two computers. It's a decent size (way more than I need, but it was a good deal when I bought it). There's no need for an extra plug. So far, it hasn't broken.
For how I'm using it, the small cord size is fine, but it would be nice if the USB port on the drive was something like a micro-USB or mini-USB so that users won't have to get a special cord if they want it longer.
Easy to use, just plug into your USB and you are ready to go...it is fool proof! Took all my photos off my PC; about 6600, now my PC runs like new. I still have room for about another 493,400 pics. I wish I had gotten this a long time ago.
Compact, Easy To Set Up, Easy to use, High Capacity, Portable
I use this as a backup drive for my laptop. This is a great little hard drive, and most of the time these are on sale so you won't have to spend a fortune. This drive will work with both Windows and Mac computers (though Macs will require this drive to be formatted a bit differently, but you can...
This is my second Toshiba Canvio external HD. The first has been working fine as a backup drive on my dual-boot Windows XP Pro/Windows 7 PC. It is a USB v. 2.0 drive but this latest drive is USB v. 3.0 compatible. I intend to use it as an external backup drive for a newly built Windows 8.1 tower.
First harddrive I've personally had fail on me in 21 years in the IT industry. Worked great for 5 months then just failed, not impressed. Got 2 of these, the other is running ok, but won't be trusting it for anything important.
Just what I needed to keep all my files from my notebook pc.
Although it's fit for purpose it could be cheaper.
More or less came DOA. Tried usb 2 and 3 but wouldn't allow writing to the drive, and slowed the whole system down. Note that from investigations it can't be converted to an internal Sata as everything is built in to the main drive board. Wouldn't buy again.
Avoid, spend a bit more money. I bought this and saved all of my Masters work on it. Files on it kept corrupting, but assumed that was a computer issue - but now does not get recognised on the computer - so all work lost!
