One of the Tokina's obvious advantages is very competitive pricing when pitched against similar lenses from both Canon and Nikon. There is no evidence here to suggest that any corners have been cut along the way and Tokina's zoom therefore deserves serious consideration by anybody who might...
Solid all-round performance at a competitive price-point
No manual-focus adjustment whilst in AF mode
The Tokina 16-28mm f/2.8 AT-X Pro FX Lens is an affordable, ultra wide angle lens with an also-ultra wide f/2.8 aperture available over the entire focal length range. That this lens is full-frame-compatible adds greatly to its desirability.
Currently available to fit Canon and Nikon SLR full frame cameras, this ultra-wide angle zoom has a fast f/2.8 aperture throughout the zoom range and costs around £795.
The first lens in a promised line of AT-X Pro FX full-frame Tokinas, this is also the company’s first with a highly refined, micro AF motor that’s both silent and fast-focusing.
The Tokina AF 16-28mm f/2.8 AT-X Pro SD FX is a high-performance ultra-wide zoom lens that gives the Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8 USM L II a run for the money - but it's not a lens without flaws. Its primary weakness is corner softness at f/2.8 but that's not unheard of in this class anyway.
Announced in July 2010, Tokina's AF 16-28mm f/2.8 AT-X Pro SD FX is the first in a new generation of ultra-wide angle lenses for cameras with 35mm-sized imagers. There's no point in buying this lens for a camera with an APS-C sized sensor because it's big and bulky and there are plenty of lighter...
Much bigger than most lenses, and at more than twice the weight of some, the Tokina AT-X 16-28mm f/2.8 PRO FX is a chunky lens. That's because while other lenses are designed solely for use on cameras with APS-C or Four Thirds sensors, the Tokina is fully compatible with full-frame cameras.
Gary Wolstenholme reviews the Tokina AT-X 16-28mm f/2.8 PRO, an ultra-wide angle zoom lens that has a fast f/2.8 aperture throughout the zoom range.
Very good sharpness performance, Excellent build quality, Low falloff levels for this kind of lens, Price
Barrel distortion, Levels of chromatic aberrations towards the edges of the frame
I have been a photographer for years. I do a portrait and landscape a lot. I always wanna use a uwa lens for landscape. In the past, I use a 10-18mm ef-s on my 70D. It is a amazing lens. 300 dollars give you an incredible vision.Since I upgraded my gear to 6D. I need a new uwa.
Ordered this lens on July 24, 2017 and received it July 27, 2017 with an International 2 Year Warranty. This is NOT the USA version with the 3 year warranty.
I needed a wide angle lens with a f2.8 or greater this lens is very goos and also have the option of zoom in at 28mm very useful for many situation on phtography and vudeo I am very happy with it and recomended.
I bought this lens almost a year ago and it has been very good for the most part. It's built like a tank and feels premium. It's been on 40-50 shoots with me (both photo and video) and it's held up very well! It's sharpness seems to be very good.
I brought this lense because I already had the Tokina 10-16mm f2.8 and loved it but this lense is more flexible for shooting My morning waterscapes and landscapes...Where as now that extra zoom to 28mm allows me to keep shooting without changing lenses or repositioning my tripod in the early morning...
The lens came defective... Totally forgot to write a review. Auto focus wasn't functioning, and the zoom ring was stuck at at 28mm
Ok. let me first start off by saying I dont hate this lens. Its a very sharp lens when shooting during the day. In fact I LOVED this lens when i used it during daylight hours. However after the sun goes down, this lens gets downright UGLY. Let me start with the daylight hours.
Great image quality for the price.
Amazing! this is exactly what i wanted and the shipping it was ok. Thanks.
the results are way better than expected when I first started using the lens for wide shots. Crisp photos every time! Don't let the weight of the camera veer you away it's well worth it and solid! Taken with a Nikon d750
