Tiffen 58mm Circular Polarizing Filter

You can spend hundreds for a polarizer, but if you do your homework you will find that, by and large, polarizers from a major names (and a few minors as well) are the same. The lens does one thing; how well it does it depends on the quality of the film used on the glass.

For field work we often use screw-in filters with our Sam Yang lenses so we dont have to carry a matte box. The 77mm size fits most of the lenses (20mm, 24mm, 35mm, 50mm, 135mm). Maybe my fingers are too big but thing to adjust this filter was very difficult. I also had a lot of trouble getting this filter off my lens because again it is so thin there is little or no difference between the adjustment ring and the thread ring.

The glass in this thing shakes like its a full millimeter in diameter too small to fit the metal housing its in. If I take my finger, I can spin the glass independently from the ring. It rattles like crazy if it bounces or shakes.

This circular polarizer is one of the best I've owned. It's very solid, made of metal and glass. So far the polarizing effect has been exactly what I expected, reducing reflections and enhancing blue skies way better than the last filter from a competing brand that I owned.

Great product and great price

I have not had a chance to use this filter however after just playing with it for a minute the tint does not seem to change at all when you rotate it.
