The TASCAM DR-44WL is a Wi-Fi-enabled portable recorder by a company that specializes in making high-quality professional audio recording equipment. The adjustable dual microphones capture excellent stereo recordings with effective EQ controls, reverb effects and four tracks.
The Tascam DR44WL Portable recorder is awesome! Most of my recordings are of live classical music (choir and/or orchestra). I usually mix down to stereo. I use to bring my laptop, mixing console and electrical equipment to every recording session outside the studio.
It is small enough to fit in the small pocket of my gig bag. It comes with a soft case that is big enough for the recorder and an accessory that enables you to stick it on any mike stand. It works great and is a regular unobtrusive feature at all of our bands gigs and practices.
I've only used it once so far, to record band practice. Works pretty well with just the on-board microphones. Seemed a bit overwhelmed by the electric bass, but maybe if I had set the low cutoff that would not have been an issue.
The recording quality is very good, able to record with large range.Very practical because it can be controlled by the iPhone.
Purchased for concert and church program recording. The control interface is logical and easy to use. I don't see any problems using this device. I especially like the wifi capabilities.
Pluses:Feels solid.VERY happy with quality of the recordings. I had an earlier Tascam model that plagued by noise cancellation from the mic arrangement, but this XY arrangement was flawless when recording my first big concert.Lots of configurable options if you spend some time with the manual.
