Macro lenses are highly sought after for a variety of uses, from close ups to portraits and landscapes. Their quality is expected to be exemplary and the only disadvantage tends to be a fairly modest maximum aperture.
f/2 aperture, Good build quality, Excellent value for money, Good performance, Full time manual function feature
Some barrel distortion
The Tamron 60mm f2 Di II macro is a good lens with high sharpness and low distortion, even wide open, at both normal and macro focusing distances. The fast f2 aperture allows creative use of DOF effects, provides a sightly brighter image for focusing and can be used to better blur backgrounds in...
Introduced at the end of March of 2009, Tamron's new 60mm is finally hitting the shelves at the camera stores. What makes this lens stand out more than anything else is its fast f2.0 lens. That's not a typo its a full stop faster than the competition's f2.8 lenses.
The world's fastest 1:1 digital macro lens ($570, street), this is also the fastest Tamron, and its first to allow manual focus while in autofocus mode. It has a very tight closefocusing distance, and it belongs to Tamron's top-tier SP family of Super Performing lenses.
Tamron makes great lenses. I have used them with 35mm cameras such as the Canon A-1 and the Nikon F-3HP and have found them to be clear and sharp. They are easy to use and usually at a better price than Canon and Nikon lenses.
Consistent Output, Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight, Rugged, Strong Construction
I bought this Sony mount macro to go with my Sony SLT alpha 77. Build quality is excellent and is fairly light. The focus is IF so the compact length does not change. The MF ring is wide and has excellent damping for manual use.
Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight, Nice Bokeh, Rugged
Highly recommended for crop sensor cameras.
