The 70-200mm focal length has been the standard tele-zoom choice for many years, offering near normal to a good tele range that suits many practical purposes. Yet, quite a few stock-in-trade 70-200mm lenses had been slow or lost significant aperture as soon as you left the shortest zoom setting,...

While the Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 Di VC USD Lens is not Tamron's first 70-200mm f/2.8 lens, it is their first version to include vibration control. VC alone is a great upgrade feature, but the upgraded image quality in this lens is also big bonus.

There’s no doubt that the Tamron SP 70-200MM F/2.8 DI VC USD , ( buy from Amazon ) ( review ) is a good lens. It’s sharp, even wide open, aberrations are well controlled and the optical stabilization (VC) is very effective. So the only question is whether it’s good value at $1500.

Handling and features This brand new lens from Tamron covers the ever-popular 70-200mm range with a fast constant aperture of f/2.8. It is one of Tamron's 'SP' lenses, which denotes that it should be able to produce professional quality results and it sports moisture sealed construction.

Among pros, image-stabilized 70–200mm f/2.8 full-frame zooms have become must-own glass. They’re in Canon ($2,499, street), Nikon ($2,397), Sigma ($1,399), and now Tamron’s catalogs ($1,499), and we see them at weddings, sporting events, in portrait studios, and in backpacks.
This fast F2.8 telephoto zoom lens for full-frame SLRs delivers very good image quality and remarkably consistent resolution. The VC (Vibration Compensation) image stabiliser effectively compensates for camera shake in the Canon and Nikon versions of the lens.
I'm using this with a D810 and D500. Never had any issues on AF in low light, as someone posted on the reviews. Image quality is amazing. I'm really happy with is lens - not a single issue for me. May be just my lens but AF is fast and accurate, in low light also. Sold my Nikon AFS 70-200 f/4.
I bought this lens to replace the 70-200mm f/4l Canon I had. I am kicking myself for NOT doing it sooner!! Honestly, I should have just saved and bought this first. It is a solid solid lens no joke. The color is amazing, it's razor sharp, killer in low light, and just does what it's supposed to.
