The Tamron SP 24-70mm F/2.8 Di VC USD is the first fast standard zoom for full frame cameras to feature optical image stabilization. Its combination of impressive optics, effective autofocus and image stabilization systems, and drip-proof construction makes it a compelling alternative to the much...

  • +

Extremely good optics, Highly effective image stabilization, Silent, accurate focusing, Impressive flare resistance, Very good build quality including sealing, Competitive price compared to camera manufacturers' equivalents

  • -

Unpleasant vignetting at F2.8 on full frame at the telephoto end, Slightly less-fast autofocus than Canon or Nikon equivalents (but far from slow), AF and VC switches rather stiff, difficult to change quickly

The announcement of the Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 Di VC USD Lens raised more than a few eyebrows. For many years, photographers (including me) have been requesting a full frame compatible 24-70mm f/2.8 lens with optical image stabilization.

The Tamron SP 24–70mm f/2.8 Di VC lens is a fast lens designed to work with full-frame cameras (but it will work with smaller sensors, too). It’s available for Canon, Nikon, and Sony; however, the Sony version doesn’t include vibration compensation (VC) because Sony DSLRs already have that feature...

Tamron took a bold step in providing a lens with image stabilization in this category - perhaps sacrificing image sharpness to provide the hand-holding convenience. The question for the prospective shooter of this lens would be, do you value image sharpness at Æ’/2.8 over image stabilization, or...

This highly anticipated lens from Tamron covers the popular 24-70mm range with a fast constant aperture of f/2.8. It is one of Tamron's 'SP' lenses, which denotes that it should be able to produce professional quality results.

The Tamron SP 24–70mm f/2.8 Di VC USD lens does what its big-name competitors can’t do. It allows you to take sharper handheld photographs in all lighting conditions without compromising quality.

The Tamron SP 24–70 mm f/2.8 Di VC USD, although less expensive than its brand name competitors produced by Canon, Nikon or Sony, is not cheap at all because you must pay for it over 4,000 PLN. It is by 1,000 PLN more expensive than the Sigma 24-70 mm f/2.8 EX DG HSM.

very good image quality in the frame centre for most combinations of apertures and focal lengths,, image quality on the edge of the frame is similar or better than that of the direct rivals,, sensibly corrected chromatic aberration,, negligible vignetting on APS-CC/DX sensor,, well corrected...

A popular lens choice for full-frame camera users is the 24-70mm f/2.8 optic, because its range covers general use and the fast aperture is constant throughout the entire focal range. Indeed, most camera retailers recommend it as the lens to buy with a full-frame camera as part of a kit.

The Tamron AF 24-70mm f/2.8 SP Di USD VC already delivered very good results in the full format scope so it's not a surprise that the APS-C results are even better! The resolution characteristic is almost flawless with an excellent center from f/2.8 up to f/8 and a very good outer image region.

I reckon that the Tamron designers had some fun during the design of the lens. Unlike with the Tamron AF 28-75mm f/2.8 SP XR they were not so much restricted by pricing concerns and the positive effect on the results is obvious - the Tamron AF 24-70mm f/2.8 SP Di USD VC is an impressive lens.

Ok, this lens is quickly becoming my walk around lens. It's nice that I can go a little wider than 50 or zoom in just a little, making it pretty versatile for me. Also I learned the hard way just how weather sealed it is after getting caught in a torrential downpour with no protection for either of...

I am very pleased with my Tamron 24-70mm f2.8 VC usd for Nikon lens. I read all sorts of reviews on the lens many of which compared it very favorably with the Nikon and Canon counterparts.

I bought this lens 4 years ago and I love it. I just had to send it to Tamron because the focus ring rubber came loose but that's because I use this lens a lot and they fixed under their 6 year warranty. They also opened and cleaned it as well.

Great all around lens. Fast and accurate focus. Very good in low light. The f2.8 throughout the entire focus range is a great feature.

This Tamron lens is more than suitable as an alternative to Canon's flagship 24-70 f/2.8 II. The lens is solid, well built, tack sharp, and has the benefit of IS! Images produced have wonderful color and clarity.

As the only 24-70mm f/2.8 currently on the market that has image stabilization (VC as Tamron calls it, or VR in Nikon parlance) this lens is a no-brainer as the best choice for DSLR video. Value is unmatched compared to Nikon's version which is $500 more expensive WITHOUT image stabilization.

This lens appears to be great, especially for the money. It is also a stabilized lens, giving a better picture on the move.

When I bought my copy it was the only full frame 2.8 24-70 with optical stabilization. It's my workhorse lens paired with a D750.

The best lens 24-70mm in all the questions. It only loses at auto focus speed for Nikon 24-70mm. But it is certainly much better. Focus spiked and a beautiful color.

I've been using this lens for some months now and it is absolutely superb. I use it mainly for landscape photography on a full frame Nikon with small apertures and it is razor sharp. At wider apertures I imagine it falls down but for my purposes it is excellent.
