The Tamron SP 24-70mm F/2.8 Di VC USD is the first fast standard zoom for full frame cameras to feature optical image stabilization. Its combination of impressive optics, effective autofocus and image stabilization systems, and drip-proof construction makes it a compelling alternative to the much...

  • +

Extremely good optics, Highly effective image stabilization, Silent, accurate focusing, Impressive flare resistance, Very good build quality including sealing, Competitive price compared to camera manufacturers' equivalents

  • -

Unpleasant vignetting at F2.8 on full frame at the telephoto end, Slightly less-fast autofocus than Canon or Nikon equivalents (but far from slow), AF and VC switches rather stiff, difficult to change quickly

Okay, I would have preferred the lens to accept 77mm instead of 82mm filters, since my accessories top out at 77mm, and large glass circular polarizers are an expensive proposition, but that’s the price you pay for fast glass. That said, I never once felt at cross-purposes with the lens.

The Tamron SP 24-70mm f/2.8 Di VC USD is a new 2.9x zoom that was announced April 2012 and is the first ever stabilized large-aperture standard-zoom compatible with full-frame DSLRs.

The Tamron SP 24–70mm f/2.8 Di VC lens is a fast lens designed to work with full-frame cameras (but it will work with smaller sensors, too). It’s available for Canon, Nikon, and Sony; however, the Sony version doesn’t include vibration compensation (VC) because Sony DSLRs already have that feature...

This highly anticipated lens from Tamron covers the popular 24-70mm range with a fast constant aperture of f/2.8. It is one of Tamron's 'SP' lenses, which denotes that it should be able to produce professional quality results.

First, i'd like to say this is a good lens. I am happy with the quality and performance of the lens. The only down side is the lens hood. It seemed fine at first but now it's becoming concerning. It is very difficult to remove the lens hood and hard to get the hood on.

Consistent Output, Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight, Strong Construction

Great all around lens. Fast and accurate focus. Very good in low light. The f2.8 throughout the entire focus range is a great feature.

A little on a heavy side.

This lens is at least as good as its reviews ... despite an issue with my copy. It is crisp, clear & is generally a high value FX lens at a lower than average price. Upon receipt my copy worked for three weeks and then the auto-focus function quit.
