The Tamron SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di VC USD G2 is a very good lens. For the money, it’s a great lens. It’s very sharp throughout its range, has effective image stabilization, quick autofocus, and is relatively light and handholdable for a lens of its focal length.

Here we have an updated version of Tamron's already excellent 150-600mm zoom lens . With the promise of improved optical performance, faster AF, improved VC (Vibration Compensation) and many other minor improvements this looks to be a compelling upgrade. Let's see how it performs.

If you’re looking for a powerful, do-everything super zoom for your Canon, Nikon or Sony A-Mount camera, Tamron’s SP 150-600mm VC USD G2 is really worth your attention. Think about the various telephoto lenses in your arsenal that could be replaced with this one, versatile lens.

Verdict: The Tamron 150-600mm is a great option for any sport and wildlife enthusiasts looking for a quality lens to deliver impressive results. It’s competitively priced too, as the rival from Sigma – the 150-600mm SPORT lens – costs £1199 but is nearly a kilogram heavier.

Tamron’s update to its ultra-telephoto lens promises an enhanced capability with faster focusing and improved optical performance – so how do these new features fare? As any sports or wildlife photographer will tell you, an ultra-telephoto lens is an invaluable part of their kit bag.

The focal length range of this lens makes it most suitable for sports and wildlife photographers and birders, in particular, will find its fast autofocusing and effective stabilisation advantageous if they are looking for a long lens that can be used hand-held.

The second-generation Tamron SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD G2 offers better image quality, more features, faster auto-focus and more effective image stabilisation than the 2013 version, but the price has increased significantly, so it's not quite the out-and-out bargain that it once was.

On my A99II:AF speed is OK. Compare to my other lenses: 1)Much faster than the screw-driven Tamron 200-500. 2)About the same as Sigma 50-500 OS. 3)A little slower than Sony 300/2.8 SSM+Sony 2X TC. Much slower than Minolta 600/4.Resolution is acceptable wide open at 600mm.

Still testing it but it looks great so far. I am happy with the reach and bouquet. Heavy, but not much. Good construction. I like that it comes with the tripod collar.

This lens is great for the wildlife i have been trying to capture. Takes awhile to adjust to the long lens length and proper technique, but my "keeper" rate keeps improving with practice.

I put off this purchase for a while, and can say I only regret waiting this long. Just a few weeks after buying it I was able to put it through its paces on a trip to the Everglades! Love it- it's not a miracle lens, but if the photographer does his job the lens will do its.

Really nice piece of equipment and by far the best Tamron I own. It is heavy but that's how they pack in all that optical goodness. On the Sony Alpha mount you do not get the VC as it is in the camera body. Still, hand holding is better on the shorter end of the zoom.

This lens replaces a 120-400mm of another brand bought around 10 years ago.I could not be more pleased with the performance. What could I not like about 3 vibration compensation(VC) modes, 3 focus limiting modes and Felx-zoom lock which lets you lock the focal length anywhere in the 150-600mm...

The lens was perfect for wildlife photography on a trip to Yellowstone. Fast enough for all daylight needs and sharp enough for eyelash level detail at reasonable ranges. As an added bonus, the kodak backpack that came with the lens is my go to for day trips, It holds the lens, either mounted to the...

I bought this with little hesitation after purchasing the recently released 18-400mm super zoom and being very satisfied with it's quality. The older Tamron were not great at the extreme telephoto end. The 150-600mm has done very well for me, very close if not the same as my Canon100-400mm one.

I bought this to shoot my grandkids soccer games..while a can't be moving around the field to shoot them playing it's a big help I have a Tamron 70-200 mm f. 2.8 which works great too BUT this is trulls amazing lens..

Pretty good lens. Even with a monopod (difficult to shoot birds with a tripod) it is hard to get super sharp images unless it is fairly light out so my dawn and dusk sots just aren' quite as sharp as I would like. However the day shots are great and it's really nice to have this power.
