“I’ve been using the Suunto 9 over the past three months for tracking ski touring ascents, logging running progress and aiding hiking days both in Iceland and Norway. The watch has impressed me with its multi-day battery life, even when you’re using power-sapping tools such as GPS and heart rate.

To wrap things up, who is this device for? It’s not for a person that wants a traditional or even what we might call a new smart watch. You can’t install apps on it. You have a limited number of pre-installed faces that have colors that you can change for a little bit of customization.

So who is the target audience for this smartwatch? Well, if you love joining a triathlon or play multiple sports such as running, hiking or swimming, and also are really serious on tracking your training data, the Suunto 9 Baro is a good choice.
Suunto’s in a tough spot in terms of competition these days, and they admit it themselves. When I met with them they were clear that they’re no longer trying to compete on feature counts with Garmin.

Finding a watch that keeps up with my life can be tricky. I’ve owned a trusty Suunto Core for the past six years and it’s been pretty much everywhere with me. The Core rarely let me down, giving me barometric readings when needed, whilst also timing my running, climbing and ski touring days in...

A great smartwatch that could tackle multiple different sports and activities plus a massive battery life makes it a good shout if you do not require NFC payments or internal music storage.

I have bought my Suunto Baro 9 a few months ago to replace the Suunto Ambit 3 (and I had the Ambit2 and the Suunto Vector before that). So I'm used to having a great multisport watch with a mass of functionality, easy and intuitive use of those functionalities and robustness of the product.

I have been playing with it for 1 week. I ran about 70 km and swam about 10 km.I did not have time to dive into the user guide yet but the watch is very intuitive and works just fine. The GPS and baro looks precise, as expected with Suunto.

- Comfortable watch to wear.

- Setup with HR belt was not so good. I had to factory reset the watch before the HR belt provided the HR data.

Battery life: still good autonomy and charging routines as before, survived my 24 bike tour in medium mode (initial 35 hours life expected), but after 22 hours was already telling that had 2 hours left battery life, possibly due to constant navigation on the route I have downloaded to the watch.

Pretty good watch. I liked the number of fields on one screen, very useful, as well as a very accurate wrist heart rate monitor, but there is a minus, if you start flipping screens during a workout, the pulse stops reading and does not record data in the log.

The new Suunto app is not great, even compared to movescount and looses out to Garmin Connect. A bit of time and development it should get there.

Love the Suunto 9 baro. Previously had the Ambit 3 run and love all of the upgrades. There are so many sport and activities to choose from. Is perfect for multi sports as well. The fit is great especially since it does not have a stainless steel backing.

As a Suunto employee, I truly love this new watch. Prior to the Suunto 9, I would rotate between the Spartan Sport Wrist HR as my every day workout watch, and the Spartan Ultra for the longer weekend trips.

This is my second Suunto watch and I loved it.Just have one complain, which hope to attract your attention. There is very annoying situation with phone notification when I connect my mobile phone with Suunto 9 baro. The same irritation experienced 2 of my fellows, using Suunto 9.
