The 43-inch Sony XBR-43X800E is a great smart TV paired with a 4k display panel that's just pretty good. It has its faults, from inaccurate color to frustrating black levels, along with an awkward connection panel and middling sound from the built-in speakers.
Android TV built in, HDR support, Affordable
Inaccurate color, Poor black levels, Disappointing audio
This TV is a great little 4K TV. I purchased it for my bedroom for use with my PS4 Pro and for media playback. The picture is great. With a little bit of fiddling with settings it is very vivid (I recommend turning up the Brightness as the default looks a bit washed out on the lower settings).
Seems that all of the current LCD flat screen televisions don't have the same warm picture as the older LCD projection televisions based on what I saw in the showroom at Abt.
Sharp picture with good color quality
Best viewing achieved only from front., Colors not as warm as previous LCD projection TV
This is a JEWEL of a TV. Its perfect for the intended viewing environment. Although...in all truth I should have gotten something a little bigger. Even in a small bedroom it feels a little on the small side, but I knew that going into this experiment.
It's almost perfect, but a few hours into using the television, I noticed two dead pixels on the television. Hopefully it fixes itself over time. I recommended this tv to my dad. He doesn't notice it, but it's so glaring to me.
rtings.com is what convinced me, and the wide gamut colors with deep blacks(nonPLS) with HDR, real nice, solid build, little slow smart interface but no prob, nice quality Sony, got some weight for 1.5" width panel with industrial build.
The picture of the TV is very nice and so no problem at all in that regard. The sound could certainly be better with better clarity. What is noticeably bad just from a basic usage standpoint is the remote and its interaction with the TV.
Great TV. Stunning high definition. Easy Smart TV features and remote. Be sure to plug your 4k HDMI input into the correct 4k enabled HDMI port (I think it's #2, look elsewhere online) or you won't be seeing 4k. Also fantastic for using as an alternative Mac display.
Given the specs, I thought the 800E would be a great TV. What a mistake. Highlights are blown out, blacks are crushed (no detail in blacks), whites are noticeably grey, and contrast is low. No amount of picture adjusting could correct this.
I set up my new TV on 11/26/2017. The first thing I did was install the updates, so the firmware was current as of 11/26/2017. The UI is very slow, especially when you first start up the TV. If you have to unplug the TV and plug it back in then it's going to be very sluggish for at least 15 minutes!
We were very excited to get a new TV. Have had nothing but trouble so far. Turns itself off repeatedly. Apparently, this is an ongoing problem with Sony Bravia TVs. Google "Sony TV turns off by itself" before you buy!
