The bottom line for the X850G from Sony is that while it’s not at all bad in most regards, its black rendering and contrast are bad enough even by IPS TV standards that unless you have a really good reason for choosing a Sony brand TV, we definitely recommend LG alternatives more than this edition.

The XBR-85X850G contains a new and updated processor making the Android menu system very fast.Picture quality is top tier for this models intended design(Directly in front viewing with moderate indirect light sources). Contrast and color settings are dynamic out of the box.
This is my first 4K TV. The picture is Amazing. Watching a live baseball broadcast is like having the players in your living room. Now I am hungry for more 4K programming. I use the standard setting but I am leaning towards having a professional tune the Picture. The upscaler is excellent.

Very Heavy
Beautiful picture. That's one of my favorite things about the tv besides the size. However, the smart functionality often leaves something to be desired. My remote randomly quit working as a universal remote for my cable box and would not let me set it back up, the apps randomly freeze or crash or...
This is a great TV for the money. I have it paired with a SONY 4K blue ray player and it is a great combo. I have not done color calibration yet but plan too.

Google play features work well and the feature to pair with s Sony blu Ray player is a nice touch
Beautiful and vivid picture in bright scenes. However, HDR content appears to suffer during dark scenes, atleast when streaming content (Netflix). The black areas of scenes sometimes look digitized like the TV is trying to process the content but is having a difficult time.
Great tv for the value. Took a big tv to fill up a wall in new house.
Have had it for several months. Picture and sound are great. Love the Google search. My biggest problem is that I average unplugging it to reset once a day. It locks up and can only be fixed by doing so.
I love the picture quality. I am noticing more details that never drew my attention with my old tv
Large screen is easy to see from across the room. Excellent picture quality from such a big screen. 4K picture is awesome ( although 4K programming is limited for now).
So far very happy. Only thing we don't like is how heavy the TV is.
