I bought this back in the end of July beginning of August. So far when it works I love it. I would say that it works around 90-95% of the time without incidents. I do not have the volume at max I usually keep it around 30%-50% of its max.
Bought this to pair up with our new HT-A7000 sound bar, and it works perfectly. Seamless integration with the sound bar, and automatic on screen setup, and even automatic on screen update. Remote allows you to control all the variables you'd like to easily.

Remote control is not backlit
Love the sub-woofer when coupled with the HT-A7000 soundbar.
Bought it to pair with the HTA9 and what a difference! If yo have the A9, you need the SA5, the ther wasn't as effective and when I switched to this, it's the bomb! Sounds great and puts the bass to make the sound quality perfect. I have paired with a Sony X95J 85" and spectacular sound!
I bought this to add in with my Sony HT-A9 system. Couldn't have been easier to wirelessly link with the system. And it IMMEDIATELY added weight and dimension to my home theater system.

Pricey. A little distortion if pushed to the max. HEAVY! (But that's to be expected!)
I bought this SA-SW5 300 W three months ago. It is the right sub woofer for my Sony HT-A9 home theater system. It makes my room feel big. I now truly get the theater sound that the system was intended to give out. It is truly a big bang for sound.
A great addition to my Sony HT-A7000 soundbar.

Big and heavy for a soundbar sub. It's substantially harder to move around than the SW3 and the shape makes it awkward to hold.
if you have the 360 Spatial Sound Mapping this sub is a must
This subwoofer is a fantastic addition to my Sony HT-A7000 sound bar. The enclosure is a bit large but looks very nice with rounded edges. It has deep bass and can rumble my house when watching movies. I have the subwoofer volume set at 10 out of 12 and it's impactful without being overbearing.
This unit is a great companion to the HT-A9 system. System really needs the bigger of the 2sub's that are offered.
