The Sony 50mm f1.4 G Master is a welcome addition to the system, slotting roughly between entry-level and high-end models in price, but with minimal compromise. In my tests I was reminded of the 1.2 G Master with the new 1.4 version delivering similar razor-sharp details and attractive rendering,...
Sony FE 50mm F1.4 GM is a Fixed aperture Auto Focus (AF) Standard Prime lens with 35mm FF max sensor coverage, and it is designed to be used with E Mount cameras. What type of photography is the Sony FE 50mm F1.4 GM lens good for?

The Sony FE 50mm F1.4 GM is a fantastic lens in every respect, offering a versatile focal length that can be used to shoot almost any subject. It’s an attractive option that may be less expensive than the equally impressive Sony FE 50mm F1.2, but it’s still much more expensive than similar...

If you forget about these surprises for a while and focus on the most important thing, you can only praise the new Sony FE 50 mm f/1.4 GM as it is virtually without any flaws. Its physical dimensions are smaller than these of many direct rivals and yet its optical system is able to correct properly...

I purchased the 50 1.4 on 2-13-24 and have used for PR, commercial and even architectural assignments. I am just beginning to experiment with this lens shooting video at 1.4, a visually exciting scenario made much easier by Sony's fabulous AF system.
It focuses fast and matches my 35mm G Master lens. It is definitely my preferred focal length. I also love that my 35, 50 and 85 all use the same filter size.
I bought the 50mm G-Master lens to travel with because I wanted light weight. If I wanted a wider shot, I would do a panorama. If I wanted a closer shot, I would walk closer or put my camera in APS-C mode. I also like being able to change the aperture with the aperture ring.
My experience with this lens is AWESOME! Super sharp images even at 1.4 and had not seen any chromatic aberration even with photos that would be full of it. Auto focus performance is great. LOVE the lens.
My first GM and decided to go with the 50mm 1.4 over the 1.2, i tested it in Antigua Guatemala, and man this lens is sweet!
The Sony 50 mm is a very sharp lens and great for portraits. Much more cost effective then the f1.2
Super sharp, fast and light. This was a great purchase. The bokeh is fantastic to boot and almost $1k less than the f1.2. If you’re considering it, you will be happy with it.
A nifty 50 lens does just about everything, from landscapes to intimate portraits. Sony's 50mm 1.4 GM is best of breed. While not the lightest, its heft is not great. Close focus and bokeh are superb.
Sony Gold-Master = High quality lens & image qualitysmall & lightweight = good portability
Good Points: An amazing lens and a great combo with the 24mm GM.Improvement Points: None at the moment as have only had it for a short time. A bit on the pricey side though!
