I was waiting to write this review until I had a chance to put the lens through proper due diligence. I have almost 30 years as a professional fashion and advertising photographer. I have used just about every line of gear, so I am able to justly rate this lens. It is simply fantastic.
The sharpest lenses in it's focal class on the market, the 55mm is one versatile lens that create great images and video. Highly recommended if you want fast speed and sharp pictures.
This is a good lens. Lightweight, very sharp and great color reproduction. This is a good lens to pair with your mirrorless A7 series camera. Its not very big or heavy and the 49mm filter size will not break the bank if you shoot with filters.
Lightweight, sharp, color reproduction.
Onion ring bokeh, price
This is my first full frame camera and my first full frame lens. That said I think this lens is as good as all of the reviews describe it. 55mm on a full frame is a bit "tight" but it works well for candid family portraits.
Fast / accurate auto-focus, Nice Bokeh
This lens definitely lived up to its Zeiss name! Superbly sharp across all aperture and from center to edges. The bokeh is very nice and smooth as a 55mm lens and the colors look great. I actually bought this lens instead of the 35mm and have not regretted it yet.
Really please with this lens. It's lightweight and portable. The pictures are crisp and sharp, autofocus is fast - overall a very good versatile lens.
A very high quality lens which is not only light but I’ve found it be very sharp
Lens feels premium with metal body, but AF motors are loud and a little slow. Bokeh, color, and contrast are superior to the f/1.4 version of this lens. Images have unique character which are similar to the pure Zeiss lenses. Worth picking up when you can find it on sale.
It is a lovely lens, images are really crisp with nice bokeh. Focus is fast. It is everything I hoped it would be.
Just came in the mail yesterday, it did not disappoint one bit. I use the A7Sii, this thing has absolutely no trouble shooting in the dark or shooting lights directly, worth every dollar. I can see the dirt on your eyelashes with this thing, seriously.
