Considering the price, you would hope that the Sony 24mm Æ’/1.8 Sonnar T* ZA didn't disappoint - and happily, it doesn't. Sharpness is excellent even wide open, and other factors such as chromatic aberration, distortion and corner shading are well-controlled.
I've been searching for a prime lens that would give me an angle of view that would work for travel photography for both street and interior use and also for close-up (but not macro) work. This lens is right on the mark for the focal length I was looking for on an crop sensor camera.
The other reviewers are spot on. Their technical description of this lenses attributes are spot on.What I will add is that this is my go to street photography lens. I was a little leary as I really wanted a 35mm walking around prime lens.I am not disappointed at all.

Consistent Output, Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight, Nice Bokeh, Rugged, Strong Construction
This lens is exactly what I've wanted. It's a 36mm equivalent, opens at 1.8. It's the perfect walk-around lens. Sharpness? Beautiful center at f1.8, beautiful everywhere at f2.8, perfect at f4.

Pricey but definitely worth it! It does everything for you. The depth of field is gorgeous! (But if you don't like a strong depth of field it might not be right for you) The F1.8 is just amazing for video in a low light environment.
nice build , lenshood metal/plastic, looks and feel very nice. sharp wide open, don't get better stopping down, verry good! fast af, ad macro slow/hunting on nex 5. over priced! but the zeiss logo makes it ok, well....
