I originally bought this for my great room 5.1 system, but it didn't have the booming sound I have become used to on my brother's system. I upgraded to a Polk subwoofer and it is great. I moved the Sony to my basement man cave it is awesome, booms in that room.
I have 2 of these in a 5.1.2 home theater setup. They sound OK. Worth it for the sale price. My 10 year old paradigm 10 subwoofer sounded better at low to mid volume. Biggest annoyance is when at lower volumes, sub constantly turns of with a loud CLICK until enough bass is signal is detected to to...
10 inch driver does its job well. Easy to connect if you use the provided LFE cable (and if your receiver or amp has a subwoofer out port). Only negative is the subwoofer only comes in when there is sufficient degree of low frequency sound coming from the music.
I paired this with a Sony SSCS8 center channel speaker. And I have to mention that set up is super easy if you hook-up with a sub-woofer cable. I added the sub-woofer to my 2015 home theater system featuring a Sony XBR-55X850B 55-inch 4K TV, STR-DN1050 7.2 Channel Hi-Res 4K AV receiver and BDP-S6500...
Got this to fill in the lowest of the low frequencies with a pair of vintage KEF bookshelf reference monitors with a new Rotel integrated amp. Now our system sounds like DisneylandI put on the soundtrack from the Fantasmic show, and I can feel it just like I was at the show.
Bought this to replace an old 12 inch sony that had stopped working. Smaller in size but way bigger sound. Couldn't be happier with this. Sound quality is great but I am not an audiophile. Working in a 7.1 system.
I've had this guy for a week or so now. It was setup with my main t.v/ music area and it sounded phenomenal. It's quite compact, only about 1/3 the size of the Polk it replaced. It hasa nice understated-black look to it. no frills. Has all the basic connectivity, which is nice if you need that.
I was looking for an a smaller sub to complement a new pair of KEF Q100s. This fit the bill perfectly - great sound, small size and affordable price.
To appease my wife I needed a small subwoofer to compliment a smaller pair of vintage ADS speakers in our condo living area. The Sony 10" woofer was a good solution for me. It fits right where I need it (laying on its side) and fills in sonically from 35-75Hz nicely where the smaller speakers don't.
I was looking for a smaller powered and hard-wired subwoofer that I could fit on a low shelf instead of the floor where it was vulnerable to floor care equipment. This unit easily fit the low shelf and had frequency range cutoff adjustments as well as the volume control, and an on/off power saver...
