This camera is incredible in low light. At 6db gain there is practically no grain compared to my EX3. I don't have the problem with battery power like I heard from other reviews. I just use the ub-60 battery and usually get over 2 hours out of them(always manual focus and sometimes auto iris to get...
I completely forgot how I needed to send my kids off to college when I bought this camera... Oops.. But hey now I'll never miss a high quality video of them going off to work in fast food for the rest of their life but I really like the camera no regrets!
I used big P2 and shoulder XDCams, I also used a PMW-200... Bought this PMW-300 a month ago and so far I really love it. The viewfinder is awesome, the shoulder mount is perfect for stable shot and general shooting. It's also very nice if you shoot under the rain.
I was looking for a good field camera; this machine did not answer my expectations. I used it in Burundi and in the DRC to cover major news events. The picture quality is ok and it's great to work with a good viewfinder. But it eats batteries; I can just shoot one hour with a big Swit battery.
This camera is great for run and gun shoots as well as our studio green screen shoots. The quality in video is tremendous and if you know how to use this camera you can achieve the look you want.
I think the improved everything that needed to be improved from the EX3. I have been working with EX3 for a bout a year waiting on new camera to come out and it is worth the wait.
The cam-head is the same as my EX3. They give a mediocre compressor that should have been coming with the EX3. So i bought an external recorder. Now i can shoot uncompressed for proper chromakey as well as 220Mbit. AND it was about third of the price.
The qulaity is superb. Get the job done. Easy to use.
This item is verry nice
I've used this camera as a second-unit cam to a PDW800 for CBS Sunday Morning. Both shooting 1920x1080 24p. While it didn't have the low DOF of the 800, it cut together perfectly. Side-by-side, on a wide-shot, they were indistinguishable from each other on the studio monitors. Totally blew us away.
