I took this lens to Napa and Sonoma over the weekend and it turned out to be a great lens. I was bouncing between the zeiss 55 and this lens all weekend long. I do like how it bokeh balls look at 1.8 vs the zeiss 55, they look more round vs football.
If you're looking for an 85mm lens for Sony full frame mirrorless camera, look no further. This lens has amazing center sharpness with borders only marginally behind. It produces very creamy bokeh and really good contrast and colors. Vignetting is well-controlled.

After lots of research and MANY photography reviews between 85mm Zeiss Batis and this lens I’m very happy with my purchase. Initially got stuck into thinking of paying more for the zeiss name since I already own the Zeiss 35mm f2.8 (which gets the most mileage on my A7ii and worth every penny used...
One of the best lens. Evq = 127mm for A6500. Plus F1. 8, way lighter and smaller than 70_200 F4. Performance great. Worth every penny!!
sharp lens i love it
Love this lens one of my favorite. Keep it up sony.
Fabulous I have been getting great results...especially portraits.
Compared to other brand that are about $900 you can't tell the difference, I highly recommend this lens to anyone who are looking to shoot with an 85mm.
I am adding the Sony system to my Pentax that I have been using since my start in photography. I wanted to add to the Sony system but did not want to get into the GM lense series which are quite expensive.
This lens has an awesome build qualitycompact, buttery focus ring, hard black shell. It is sharp.Thing is: It has terrible chromatic aberration issues, esp. wide open which is how I usually shoot portraits. The CA cannot be fixed easily post processing in Lightroom. I tried it.
