The Sony FDR-AX700 really blurs the line between pro and consumer grade gear. It’s quite amazing to see this degree of granular control and production-centric features in such a compact package.
I have owned many Sony video cameras over the last 14 years. Most of my video work use to be recording sports and other events. Now I do mostly documentary and short story dramas. This camcorder is perfect for both.
Great camer, has a lot of features not found on others in this range. You have full control, can do slow or fast motion (time lapse, stop motion), crisp and clear video in 4k, or 1080.
I am not a pro, nor am I a very experienced videographer. I had to ask the experts at B and H to explain what dynamic range was.I am for the most part very happy with the camera. However, I do have four complaints that I think should be shared.
I use this camcorder to produce my recent steam railway films since upgrading to 4K, having previously used several semipro HD camcorders and low end 4k camcorder for the last 10 years, in reference to HD.
Durable, Great Features, Great Picture Quality, Lightweight, Simple Controls
I used this at CES and NAMM. It's a little bigger than the previous Sony cameras, but it performed above expectations. If you are doing live streams, the HDMI will not show any overlays in the display. You can then look at the LCD screen to see what's in focus while you are streaming the video.
In this review of the Sony AX700, I am making physical/function comparisons with the Sony AX100 which I have used for many years. The Sony AX700 and AX100 are both rock-solid pro-sumer grade 4k Video Cameras that will serve the advanced amateur and professional alike.
great camera, easy to use and video quality is amazing
People complain about 60fps for 4K but I never have needed that. I am ABSOLUTELY blown away by the video quality of this camera. I own a Sony AX/33 which is also great, but the quality of clarity and light / color reproduction is outstanding.
Love this camera. Easy to use and produces quality results. Owned and enjoyed the FDR AX100 since 2014. This camera is a big improvement and well worth the money.
This is a really impressive bit of kit. It is fully featured and has all the available bells and whistles that a professional grade camera should have. The picture quality is excellent (even at non 4k resolution) and it captured everything I threw at it with great ease!
