Sony includes a limited one-year warranty on parts and 90 days on labor, but offers extended service plans. Considering this is an expensive first-gen product, you may want to add one if the budget allows.

Main control ring not as precise, Sun washes out LCD, Complicated onscreen info, Touchscreen can be unresponsive

A compact camcorder offering high quality at a reasonable price is hard to find, but the AX100 delivers. The 1 CMOS sensor is larger than most in cameras of this size along with a prosumer interface many Sony users are familiar with.

The Sony consumer 4K camcorder sets the bar high

I bought this camera to replace an older Canon HD camera I picked up in 2012. I mostly do still photography with Nikon DSLR's, but I like to have a good video camera lying around to shoot with occasionally.

This camcorder is able to reproduce 4K image quality that is even better than many movies in 4K bluray. The details and rich colors and great contrast make this camera a joy. I am really impressed with this camcorder and I recommend it to anyone looking for outstanding 4K shooting.

Over cautious I always research as much as possible before purchasing anything. This video camera met all of my criteria and exceeded my expectations . Twice I have let independent film producers use this video camera when we were on film location scouting trips and they were very impressed with the...

This camera blows the Canon HF G30 away. As soon as my Sony AX100 arrived I did side by side testing between the 2 cameras. Even with the Canon 20x zoom the Sony blew it away in long range closeups. I sold the Canon immediately. There is no better small form factor video camera on the market today.

Like most cameras it hunts for focus in certain low light conditions. The location of the focus assist button is next to impossible to reach while recording. Whoever designed that location should be fired. Still waiting for Sony's promised firmware update that will enable 100mb/s recording.

Read a thousand reviews watched a thousand youtube videos trying to find the 4k camera that fit my criteria. Clarity of image manual controls and well made so baught this and other than not having time lapse built in its very nice.

Well, the positives are that the images, when in focus, are incredible. Nothing beats it, just amazing. They have that Zeiss pop and shine that is unmistakable in the higher end Zeiss optics. All the features are good as well. The main problem is that the focusing is very easily fooled.

Easy to use, some funny button position lit the focus magifiier but an amazing picture and in low light as well. better that the AX33 I have although the AX33 has a better stabilisation system. Took a bit of menus could be better i.e. have user designed shortcuts to make navigation easier.

I bought the AX100 as a replacement for my very trustworthy Sony HDR-XR550 which is still going strong. I have only used my new AX100 a couple of times so far and tested all the recording modes and the results are great and processing is good in both Adobe Premier Pro and Elements my PC handles...

Incredible image quality from such a small device. The optical zoom range is very useful and the digital zoom actually allows me to do some interesting things such as use this for spotting when on the rifle range. Color and dynamism of the shot is excellent.
