Digital imaging companies like Sony, Panasonic, JVC, and others are looking at ways to give people new reasons to buy a camcorder. Why cart around a camcorder when your smartphone shoots HD video?
A compact camcorder offering high quality at a reasonable price is hard to find, but the AX100 delivers. The 1 CMOS sensor is larger than most in cameras of this size along with a prosumer interface many Sony users are familiar with.
The AX100 brings Sony's 4K tech into a user friendly package with some impressive specs
I purchased this camera in May 2014 and have used it a lot over the past 14 months. I got it primarily for the 120 frames per second high speed mode. I travel about 7 months of each year and this camera has gone everywhere with me. For high-speed video (slow motion playback) it is fantastic.
Easy to Use, Good in Low Light, Great Picture Quality, Great Sound, High Speed Mode
This camera blows the Canon HF G30 away. As soon as my Sony AX100 arrived I did side by side testing between the 2 cameras. Even with the Canon 20x zoom the Sony blew it away in long range closeups. I sold the Canon immediately. There is no better small form factor video camera on the market today.
Solid Built Great pro-level features Video quality is beyond amazing
Like most cameras it hunts for focus in certain low light conditions. The location of the focus assist button is next to impossible to reach while recording. Whoever designed that location should be fired. Still waiting for Sony's promised firmware update that will enable 100mb/s recording.
Beautyfull pictutre! Professional ? No. When i recording in 4K resolution sony disable the HDMI output. I can not use external monitor. The focus ring in zoom mode, not smooth....
4K video with a large sensor, affordable prosumer quality with Sony reliability..What more can I say? When you are shopping for 4K cameras the sensor size is the single most important feature....do not kid yourself.
XAVC S 4K and HD are amazing. ND filters are very helpful (ND2 and ND3 affect color slightly). Manual Control buttons are well designed. EVF is great. Monitor is very high quality. Power consumption is improved (battery time is very good).
