I used this lens at a dance rehearsal days ago. I found the zoom capability very easy and in low light was able to shoot at ISO 3200 at a shutter speed of 100-125, without a flash and still have great photos, because of the larger diameter.
This seems to be a great lens for the a63000. I have only used it a little so far. One thing; it is not small or that light so it will add weight and bulk to the compact a63000. Both the camera and lens came at the same time, which was really appreciated.
This new lens will no doubt be an excellent lens. But the SEL18200 is also an excellent lens. There likely will not be any noteworthy difference in image quality between the two lenses.
Because five stars would represent perfection, I won't go overboard with exaggeration. Having said that I have owned this lens for many months now and use it on Sony A6300 bodies, mainly for video.
I bought this lens to shoot video with a sony a6500. Perfect team - I now have 2 of these and 2 6500's and buying a third. The video output is incredible! and the lens will stay at 4.0 thru the zoom range - a great advantage.
This is a very good lens. Image quality is good, the zoom and focus rings are very smooth.
Is a great versatile lens. Great zoom range and very clear results.
This lens is a perfect match for the Sony a6500 for filmmakers!!!! It has two differents ways to zoom and can configure the orientation to zoom!!
I got this lens ever since it was out and I use it on my A6000.Its compact enough, sharp enough, fast enough and most important sturdy enough. I have traveled over 20000 km with it and 0ver 6000 km on my motorcycle through real rough weather, from sea level to 18,000 feet.
Great sharp lens, I use it 90% of the time. Good focal range and it's a G lens. At $600 it's a bargain.
