When I needed a lens to go with me when I travel light, it seemed the PZ 18-105 would be a perfect focal range...I was right. This thing hardly ever comes off the camera and the results are breathtaking. One of my passions is photographing animals in motion, especially butterflies.
Great all around lens, zooms and focuses very quickly. There is some distortion at certain focal lengths, and chromatic aberration across the zoom range, but both are very well corrected automatically in Lightroom.
This is an ideal travel lens. The range of 18-105mm allows for quick composition. I travelled through S.E. Asia with my a6000 and the two kit lenses: 18-50mm and 55-210mm, and while both are very good, I found myself having to interchange them more often than I would like.
I use this lens with my Sony a6300 for both photos and video, and it has been such a great addition to my kit. I've been able to take some amazing images with it and it is great for run and gun filmmaking as well.
I was unsure if I wanted to carry a bigger lens (than the 16-50mm) but once I got it I was surprised it was not very heavy and not as large as I assumed it would be. The range is great for a single lens solution and I am pleased with the additional contrast that the 16-50mmm just does not have.
The headline pretty much says it all. I honestly use this lens daily. I have an a6300 with a battery grip (which makes it look like a beast with this lens). My only gripe is that it's f/4, but you can't really ask for better than that for the price. It's definitely paid for itself already.
Clearly SONY wanted a lens that would satisfy both still photographers and the ones shooting video. I my world, thats not possible in any way. That said, this is the best so far, and I have indeed been around! Not super fast, but there is NO ramping and on cameras like the FS7, just raise the ISO.
You really can’t hate this lens. I just wish that it was f/2.8 for this price. If you already have prime lens then you probably can skip this one. But if you are looking to buy your first lens, this is the one for your Sony A6500, A6300, a6000.
I bought this lens for Trip to Oregon, I took a lot of pictures from Multnomah Falls, Burney Falls, Vista House Crown Point on the Columbia River....I got too many beautiful pictures, I am very satisfied with this lens.
I'm no professional photographer, instead, I take photos of my family and just for fun. A hobby photographer is what I refer to myself. For a recent family cruise, I wanted a lens that would be multifunctional, one that could zoom in and out and allow me to walk with just one lens instead of...
