Sony DAV-DZ170 5.1 Channel DVD Home Theater System

I've had these speakers for four days and the sound is amazing, music sounds beautiful, I hear a perfect balance in highs and deep bass, the subwoofer shakes my floor and puts out a sound you can feel, on the other hand, movies require constant volume changes, during quiet parts you need to turn it...

After reading all of the negative reviews about any home theater system I look at, I was scared to purchase anything. I took a chance on the Sony Bravia DAV-DZ170. The setup was as easy as described by others.

This system is great! Works very well and was easy to hook up. My *only* complaint is that it's not wireless...the wires aren't long enough to string around our living room and they're super unsightly so we had to place most of the speakers towards the front....

I guess you get what you pay for. I should have read the reviews before I bought it. Wires are everywhere. The sound is not clear. I normally keep TV on volume numbers between 10-20. To hear normally with this the volume has to go to 65-75.

Great performance for the buck. Works great, looks great, sounds great. Replace our old system easily and painlessly. Little time spent wondering how to hook it up.

Decent, obviously entry level. Sound can get loud and full which is nice. Did the auto-calibration and the speech was still too quiet so I turned the center speaker up quite a bit. One irritating negative is that it is in no way a receiver (which it isn't advertised as).

I went from my cheapy tv speakers to this; so it was quite a change. I set everything up and started watching tron and skipped to a action filled scene. I was blown away. Everything sounded great. The bass is intense for such a small subwoofer, the highs and mids are great.

This unit delivers great, clear sound with a solid mix and easy setup. The only thing I didn't like is you don't get even a basic equalizer. All I really want to do is be able to turn the bass down just a bit. That's why I can't give it a 5 star rating.

Just got it today so my review may be premature, but so far this product rocks! It was very simple to hook up, the instructions are very clear and precise, and most importantly of all it sounds AWESOME! I now home a home THEATER.

Bought this system without Blueray being that we have an xbox in the living room and just wanted that extra sound. Sony did it again simple enough for grandpa to use and loud enough for teenagers to enjoy.
