I bought this for the remote control not the tripod. As you would expect the tripod isn't very impressive at this price. It us usable for stills but not adequate for video with pan and tilt. The remote control is much more useful and allows you to select fast or slow zoom speed.
Tripod is junk. It is flimsy, short, and does not effectively hold the weight of the AX100 or AX33. Remote is great and, more importantly, removable. I bought this so I could use the remote on a Sony VCT 870 tripod.
So far, I am pleased with this tripod. It is moderately sturdy and the head is fluid. I am especially pleased with the remote controls, which give me better control over the camcorder than other tripods I have used. I am looking forward to more and better experiences with this tripod!
Had to get a new tripod when I replaced my camcorder. The input for the camcorder is different than on my old model. Seems like Sony does this to make more money. Tripod still works well though.
Excellent lightweight Tripod. This tripod works great with my Sony a6300. I have the E PZ 18-105 F4 G OSS lens and the remote works flawlessly with it. Every function works and I love the remote switch when power zooming because this is the only remote that can fully ultilize the variable servo...
Excellent product. Works well with my alpha6000 !! I do a lot of long exposure shots and night shots. The remote is awesome with more than basic functionality built into it. Also good for video shooting. Price is a bargain when you compare with others.
We use it with our Sony A7s out of the box. I don't know if it will work with a powerzoom lens, since we dont have any of these, but all the other buttons works, so why should that not also work ;) Its great for travel since its light, but I would go for a much stronger/stabil/heavier tripod for...
My only issue is that it is not rock solid if you want to use the button on the wired remote control while it is sitting on the tripod. Pushing it can cause the tripod to move slightly and blur the picture.
I have two. The remote works great, however only with Sony cameras featuring the Multi Terminal. I have had no problems with durability or realiabilty, but some of the plastic parts (crank and leg braces) do seem somewhat fragile.
I previously owned a Sony Tripod that connected to Sony camcorder via LANC and loved it. Now, with a newer Sony camcorder that no longer has the LANC capabilities but rather the Multi-Function jack, i bought the VCT-VPR1 tripod that accomodates the Multi-Function.
