The Sony STR-DN1080 is fully featured and easy to use, and it sounds great, making it the best AV receiver available for the price.

The Sony STR-DN1080 offers all of the features you could want in a modern receiver -- multiroom music, Chromecast streaming, AirPlay, Dolby Atmos and a slew of 4K-compliant inputs. Sound quality is excellent, especially for movies.

Sound quality is a little less full than on last year's model, meaning it may not be quite as forgiving of bright speakers. Google Home control failed in our tests.

After a gap year Sony has come back fighting, with all the specs boxes duly ticked this time. The addition of Dolby Atmos – as well as other cutting-edge features – makes the STR-DN1080 a complete AVR package for £550.But Sony has outdone itself with a huge step up in performance - the 1080 amp is...

A backlit remote would be nice

Replaced a 17-year-old AV receiver with this STR-DN1080 and I'm pretty happy with this. The move was mostly technology-driven rather than a quest for better audio quality or more power. In that regard, it's a vast improvement.

Just got it past weekend, and i am in love with it. i got both this and the denon x2400h to test and then returning one which i didnt like. i was thinking it would be sony for sure. but i was wrong, the sound is amazing.

sounds great. the speaker self calibration was easy and really made my mishmosh of speakers sound like a perfect set.the only two dings:1) my comcast xfinity X1 box would NOT run when placed on top of this home theater receiver. The Xfinity remote would not wirelessly pair.

Awesome reciever.

Great sound, plenty of power, more than enough inputs.

Menu navigation for initial setup could be a little more user friendly.

Purchased to compliment a 2015 Sony Bravia 4k TV as well as a recently purchased Sony UBP-X800 4k Blu-ray player. This receiver is a significant upgrade over the Denon AVR-E300 which I have been using for the past few years.

Attractive styling; compliments existing Sony components well. Plenty of power for most home theater setups. Easy to use GUI. Relatively future-proof.

Lacks support for 3rd zone. No front panel HDMI input. Screw type binding posts.

Outputting to two screens was definitely the surprise bonus of this product for me - being able to hook it up to a monitor and a projector (which isn't always on) is a real bonus. 6 HDMI inputs allow connection to all manner of devices - though not all of these have their own button on the remote.

Have paired it with Energy Take classic & the result is quite good. It has almost every feature that one looks for in a modern receiver, coupled with good looks & more than adequate power handling capacity in this price range.

This unit's multi-room feature is useless. No device connected via HDMI will play in the second room, even the same source as the primary room. Only bluetooth paired device or older analog inputs will play in the second room.

I did not expect to go back to a Sony but I really like the STRND1080 - it is very stable and usable - does not try to do too much. The remote is simple enough for my family to use (my Visio universal TV remote does attempt to take over from time to time- I've decided to stop trying to like...
