If you can stand its speakers, Sony's XBR-X900B will reward you with the best combination of audio and video quality you've ever seen (or heard).
-
+
The Sony XBR-X900B series provides the best picture quality of any 4K TV we've tested so far, competing well against the better plasmas. It also pumped out best sound of any TV we've heard, bar none. Its prominent speakers and high-end finish makes a unique luxury TV statement.
-
-
Those speakers: you'll either love 'em or hate 'em. Most people won't love 'em. The X900B is also more expensive than most 65-inch 4K TVs. The high resolution doesn't provide a major boost in image quality, especially with non-4K content. The 3D image suffers from substantial crosstalk.
![]() |
It might not be the best value, but the Sony X900F offers an excellent picture, superb style and enough extras to tempt buyers who don't want a bargain brand.
-
+
The Sony XBR-X900F evinces excellent image quality, with deep black levels, accurate color, solid video processing and very good high dynamic range performance. Its modern, minimalist styling is a cut above budget models.
-
-
More expensive than Vizio and TCL TVs with similar image quality. Smart TV and voice control features can occasionally be slow to respond.
![]() |
Sony's X900F 4K TV series is among the brightest we've tested, with excellent color and tons of features thanks to Android TV, though some minor issues coupled with a hefty price tag keep it from rising to the top.
-
+
Very bright panel. Excellent color performance. Lots of features. Attractive design.
-
-
Mediocre black levels with light bloom. Interface can feel slow and jerky. Expensive.

The Sony XBR-X900E has the sweet style and superb picture quality to tempt midrange TV shoppers away from Vizio or TCL.
-
+
The Sony XBR-X900E evinces excellent image quality, with deep black levels, accurate color, solid video processing and best-in-class high dynamic range performance. Its modern, minimalist styling is a cut above budget models.
-
-
Costs more than Vizio and TCL TVs with similar image quality. Smart TV and voice control features can occasionally be slow to respond.

It may not offer the same peak brightness as Sony’s flagship UHD sets, the X930E and X940E, but this 4K direct LED backlit screen is still a brilliant buy.
-
+
Direct LED with local dimming, Excellent motion handling, Unfussy but elegant design, Surprisingly good audio
-
-
HDR is a bit dim, Rubbery remote, Power brick is inconvenient, No 3D support
![]() |
Short of sitting very close, you’ll need a screen bigger than 55 inches to see the full benefits of 4K resolution. But the XBR-55X900B is, nevertheless, a champion in all respects, including one we didn’t anticipate: state-of-the-art edge-lit local dimming.
-
+
Exceptional blacks and shadow detail, Excellent color and resolution, Impressive sound with optional subwoofer
-
-
Price, Small screen for 4K

Great for music, not-so-great for movies

We’re astonished the X900B isn’t Sony’s flagship television … it certainly looks and sounds the part. That this television is able to achieve such excellent black levels and avoid so many edge-lighting pitfalls is a testament to Sony’s engineering chops.
-
+
Best-in-class picture approaches plasma goodness, Excellent black levels, Rich, vivid color
-
-
Built-in speakers make for polarizing look, Ho-hum Smart TV interface, Stand (legs) doesn’t feel stable, Pricey

The standout features of the 55X900B are 1) the X-tended Dynamic Range feature which allows for more active zone control of the LED backlighting and 2) the Side Mounted speakers eliminate the need for a surround sound system.
Sony has designed this 4K UHD TV using the innovative Wedge Design. Here, the display screen is thin at the top and gradually thickens towards the bottom creating enough depth for the side-mounted speaker system. This makes a perfect shape to save space in the room.
Excellent image, i had several Samsungs tv before but this tv is amazing,Sony has my business once again

Attractive Design, Clear Picture, Energy Efficient

Complicated Controls
Only one audio out that is variable if you have a sound bar that does not accommodate an hdmi, remote is cheap with buttons that are almost recessed
Excellent picture. I mounted it on our bedroom wall and it just makes the room stand out. It was pretty much a plug and play TV. I can't believe how crisp and clear the picture is. Great purchase.
-
+
Picture quality, ease of set up. Cost wasn't bad.
-
-
No real cons. The sound is what you would expect with no where to have built in high performance speakers.
Nice and bright, easy to set up and use.
Excellent TV. I love watching it
Great picture, easy setup!
When I first turned this TV on I was amazed. The depth and vibrancy of the colors incredible. The variety of apps offered and the growing list is great. The 4k streaming through multiple apps is great and having HDR to boot makes this TV a well worth it investment into my entertainment setup.
-
+
Picture quality, low latency when gaming, giving the user full control of picture with advanced options.
-
-
Android TV can be slow at times but overall nothing to deter from purchasing.
Upgraded to the 55 inch from a 10 year old 37 inch Panasonic LCD TV (which is still going strong) and the only downside is the color wash out at wider viewing angles. The 10 year old Panaosnic LCD screen was better in that regard, but that's about it.
Sharp tv, can get complicated with apps, as they are a little slow. WHISH they or blaster could tv off my cable box and or hope theater.

I have always been a fan of Sony products having owned Sound Bars, 2 tv's a projector and numerous products back to the old Trinitron's. This television does not disappoint! Picture is incredible, setup is easy.I had an existing wall mount that had another brand 55" set.
