The Sony E 30mm f/3.5 macro lens delivered a rather disappointing performance on the Sony NEX 7. The center image quality is absolutely great but the border- and especially corner-quality is sub-standard. The rather high amount of lateral CAs isn't helpful either.
First things first:-What we all call "macro" lenses are, with a couple exceptions, perhaps better named "optically optimized close focus, (OOCF) if you will, because macro means " larger than life" (look it up). So, 1:1 is the threshold of macro.
I am not a pro photographer by any means, but I have owned several expensive type cameras. This lens rates up there with some of the expense lenses that I have purchased in the past. The glass clarity is phenomenal.

Perfect for what I am using it for. I do wish they had a 2.8 for this camera without needing to buy a very expensive adapter.

Nice little macro lens, soundless & lets you get in close to 3.5. Focus on multiple spots. Great addition to the camera.

I’ve used a Canon 100mm macro lens and the Sony 50mm macro lens for many photos; this lens does not have the image quality of either of those two lenses. The borders are particularly soft on my NEX-7. And yet, I’ve used and enjoyed this lens plenty in the last month.

Good lens, quick autofocus and very easy and responsive manual focussing. But difficult to use a filter as well as the lens hood.
Great lens. Taking pictures with lens will amaze you! Small and light.
