The Sony 28-75mm f/2.8 SAM is an affordable alternative to the Zeiss ZA 24-70mm f/2.8. Technically it isn't all that far away from its bigger brother - both have a weakness at max. aperture specifically with respect to the corner resolution.
This lens was purchased with my A850 Full Frame Camera. I also use it with my A700. The fact that it was design for use with the A850 indicates that it is a good lens as the A850/A900 cameras require the best lenses.
Compact Design, Easy To Use, Fairly light to carry, Sharp at maximum aperture, Very good on A850 A700
Confusing Lens AF Switch
I bought a99 and this lens back in December and got the camera in 2 days. According to the shipping date i was suppose to get the lens on Dec 18, then it changed to Dec 28th. Finally i got my lens Feb 23rd, yes talk about luck....
Price, Picture quality, great alternate for Zeiss
Flimsy zoom cover, SAM not SSM.
I've used this lens at the Aquarium in New Orleans in very low lighting conditions with no flash, Sony A99, ISO of 1600 and handheld. The photos came out very sharp with no noticeable noise.I am very pleased with the results I get with this lens.
Consistent Output, Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Nice Bokeh, Strong Construction, Very sharp images
Well made. Good materials. Professional appearance. Decent price. Easy to use. Gives superb results, especially when used with a Sony A99. YES I WOULD recommend this lens to a friend.
This Sony lens is just what the doctor ordered, at half the cost of the Zeiss
