The Zeiss Distagon T* 24mm f/2 ZA SSM may not be as fast as its Canon and Nikon counterparts but it's capable of delivering a better image quality at comparable aperture settings.
I am gradually moving from the Canon 5D Mark III over to the amazing Sony A9 Mark II. Coming from Canon L glass I have very high standards to meet. In the Canon lineup I have been using the outstanding Canon 24mm f/1.4L II lens, so that's what I'm comparing this lens with.
solid quality, even the focus ring is made by medal. really beautiful zeiss lens made by sony. Couple problems/ dissatisfy I have for this lens is that it only have f2.0, however canon's 24mm even have f1.2. One more is it not waterproof...come on sony, you can do better
This is a great lens with several different faces. On the A900 it is a superlative wide angle with very little distortion, extremely sharp and rich Zeiss colors. on the A700 this is a super walk-around 36mm equivalent. I sometime find myself wanting the extra reach I have on the Zeiss 24-70.
Great wide on A900 Super walk-around on A77
Not a vario...
It is not as sharp as my 55 FE 1.8 but it is great for Astrophotography! It is not as heavy or bulky as i thought it would be.
Best option for FF wide angle in A Mount. Excellent landscape and architecture lens
I purchased this as a gift for my wife. She loves it and it works flawlessly. Of course what more would you expect from a Zeiss lens?
Bought 3 SAL24F20Z. 1st one was an AF idiot. It hits everything but the target. I tried AF correction in my camera. But mistake is not linear. It differs with distance. Also this sample was very sharp and had beautiful picture.
Nice picture, good bokeh
you cant rely on this lens
The Sony SAL-24F20Z 24mm f/2.0 A-mount Wide Angle Lens is everything you could hope for. I purchased it for my Sony a55, and due to the sensor configuration on the Sony, you must multiply by 1.5 to find how the lens will perform on the non-full frame camera body.
I had from reading other reviews great expectations about this lens, and it has met them to the full. It is a rare lens has the degree of resolution, color, bouquet, contrast, and overall performance that this lens has.
I'd recently started shooting with primes due to their reputation for being sharp. I'm not disappointed. I'll be adding a few more primes to my two that I have.
