The Zeiss Distagon T* 24mm f/2 ZA SSM may not be as fast as its Canon and Nikon counterparts but it's capable of delivering a better image quality at comparable aperture settings.
I write for an online magazine and in the process of writing about restaurants I discovered that I did not have a wide angle lens to shoot the interior of the restaurants. I purchased this lens after doing much research and I have not been disappointed.
Excellent build quality, Good in low light, Little Or No Distortion, Sharp Images
A Heavy Lens, Expensive
I had originally bought this gem 2 years ago (Sept 2012). I also owned a Sony A57 to go with this Zeiss prime lens. All of the images i got from using this in combination with the A57, were excellent. Colors are vivid yet soft at the same time, creating a creamy cinematic photos.
This is a great lens with several different faces. On the A900 it is a superlative wide angle with very little distortion, extremely sharp and rich Zeiss colors. on the A700 this is a super walk-around 36mm equivalent. I sometime find myself wanting the extra reach I have on the Zeiss 24-70.
Great wide on A900 Super walk-around on A77
