Handling and features A common complaint with Sony's NEX camera system is the size lenses need to be due to the large APS-C sized imaging sensor. This new E16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS lens may be the answer to that issue.
The Sony E 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS broke a couple of records but unfortunately not in the positive sense. Its uncorrected distortion and vignetting figures are nothing short of insane. So Sony obviously doesn't want the lens to be used without enabled aberration compensation.
Since getting my a6000 I've gotten several lenses that are stellar. This 16-50mm kit lens is not that bad at all. f8 is the sweet spot throughout the range and if you keep this in mind you'll get some nice corners. Check out my attacked shots for examples.
Great little lens. I have quite a few "good" lenses for the Sony A6000 including the fast Rokinon for landscapes and good portrait lenses as well. This little, inexpensive lens is one I use when just goofing around with the family, not expecting to take great shots.
I preordered it a couple of months ago and it just arrived from Sony.ca this week. The images produced by the lens (except when zoomed in all the way) have some of the worst distortion and barreling I have seen.
Small and compact
Distortion. Almost unusable on older NEX5.
Does what it's suppose to.
Great little lens, high quality stunning pictures and videos.
I find this tiny lens to be better than I expected, and it will be useful with the a6500 when the smallest possible kit is required.
Nice lens, it's perfect for my everyday use...
I use this lens alot and like the images. Is it the best and most professional? No, but overall, it's a terrific lens.
I got an open box instead of brand new. I don't do recycle merchandise. Bad copy and bad picture. Returned.
The autofocus is good, but one competitors camera has one that is a bit better in my opinion. This is a replacement for the SonyA5000 OEM that took a 2 foot drop on a carpeted floor..
