The Sony 135mm f/2.8 [T/4.5] STF is the ultimate cream machine. Regarding the quality of its bokeh (out-of-focus blur) it outclasses all other lenses tested to date so if this is a #1 priority for you just bow to the inevitable and go for it to enjoy images as smooth as silk.
This lens is the only reason to go with A-mount! The bokeh is extremely creamy and smooth. I guess they used 'smooth' in the name for a reason. It does take some practice to get the best out of the lens and the bokeh is best when used at 2.8 (4.5 effect) but when all the ducks are in a row and...
Manual focus if no focus peaking help
Always wanted to have it, tricky to use but great bokeh
This is, quite simply, one of the greatest AF lenses ever made, for any system. I have shot with Nikon G, Canon L, Leica, Zeiss, Fuji glass, as well as classic Minolta G glass and more modern Sony G glass.
One of the best lenses available. A dream on any Sony full frame alpha body.
This lens is pretty much unique across all lens brands and mounts. It is quite an expensive investment and so you need to ensure that the unique benefits are worth it, over the one or two draw backs. The major feature of this lens is how it renders the out of focus back and foreground of pictures.
I bought this lens for my Sony Alpha 900 DSLR and without doubt it is a top top piece of glass. It took some time to get used to taking images with it as the depth of field is so short but the end product you have when you get it right is out of this world.
This is the best portrait lens I have touched. Excellent optics, excellent build. I like very much the close focus ability, out of focus rendering. The down sides are size, weight and screw driven AF
I use this lens with my full frame Alpha 850 and it is by far the best lens I own. Very sharp, narrow depth of field when fully open, and very little chromatic aberration throughout. Big and heavy, which to me is a good thing as camera shake is almost impossible. A fantastic portrait lens.
This is commonly known as one of the sharpest lenses available for any camera. I've owned this for over a year now and never fail to be impressed by the detail this lens gives. It's very revealing but the contast characteristics especially in daylight are to die for.
I am an amateur photographer and use this lens with a Sony A55. This lens is very fast, for the length it offers, very sharp, and the focus is quick and accurate. It is heavy and bulky, which can be a nuisance if you carry it around together with other things in your luggage, but for the actual...
