The Sonos Play:1 is the most affordable, functional wireless multi-room speaker we've seen yet, and Sonos' legacy makes it a breeze to set up.

Incredibly easy to set up. Affordable. Smooth-sounding midrange and high end.

Bass distorts at maximum volume. Not portable. No wired audio inputs.
The Sonos Play:1 finally brings the company's wireless audio magic to the masses, in a fantastically designed compact speaker that's just $199/AU$299.

The Sonos Play:1 is a stylish and exceptionally well-made wireless speaker, especially for the price. It offers the full Sonos experience, with support for most key services (including Spotify, Pandora, Rdio) and super-reliable wireless streaming.

Unlike Bluetooth speakers, the Sonos system can't stream from every app on your phone or tablet -- so there's no support for iTunes Radio, for instance. The lack of a built-in battery limits room-to-room mobility.
The downside to testing a single PLAY:1 is that we can't create a "stereo pair" or play different streams to each of the devices. That being said, what we can test is the range, quality and overall performance of the SONOS PLAY:1 - both software and hardware.

Great software, Build quality, Decent audio quality, Easy to use and setup, Comes with the SONOS Bridge, Flexible options and easy to setup/add other SONOS gear

The SONOS PLAY:1 is a great setup and if you snag a couple of these, you'll likely be very happy. The overall build quality of the hardware as well as the engineering of the software is fantastic. I'm a fan., Needs a pair to really appreciate quality, functionality, Not cheap
Unfortunately for Bob Wiley and his ex-wife, Sonos has only been around for the last twelve years. However, during that time the folks at Sonos have established themselves as true leaders in the DIY whole-home audio game.

Tiny footprint, big sound, Easy to pair with a second PLAY:1 for stereo sound, Sonos Controller mobile app keeps getting better

Looks weatherproof, but it isn't, Wish list: rechargeable battery for easier outdoor use, Black and white are a good start. More colors please!
Sonos offers surprisingly good sound from surprisingly small active speakers, the PLAY:1. And the ease-of-use is as usual top-notch!

Does not get much better at this price.

Loudness should not be the default setting.

Sonos is an American electronics company established in 2002 with a focus on designing and manufacturing wireless speakers and audio equipment. Sonos latest product was released earlier this month called the PLAY:1. It is a Zone Player wireless speaker similar to PLAY:3 but smaller in size. [...]

No aux input. Not portable.
Once upon a time, Sonos was a tough sell. Whole-house streaming audio had its appeal, certainly, but it was also expensive. The wireless audio market has come on strong since the first Sonos all-in-one speaker, the PLAY:5, in 2009 though, and with Apple’s AirPlay , not to mention various WiFi and...
In the retail unit costs about 16,000 rubles, in my opinion, is insignificant price for the column with such capabilities. It can be used as a standalone device, you can use two and a TV or computer, you can put in a small room in the house.
The Play:1 is a great introduction to the wonderful world of Sonos. Priced at just above a good Bluetooth speaker and sounding much much better, it should be a top choice if anyone is looking for a speaker to use with streaming music.
Nice sound. Uses WiFi for better data transfer than Bluetooth. The speaker is nice and the sound seems reasonably balanced. It is not meant to play wall shaking and earth shattering (loud bass) sound. However, the SONOS smartphone app could use some improvement.

I lived with Sonos Play:1 for two irritating years before I dumped it for something that actually works. I tried to sort my issues out, but ultimately found myself working too hard for something I was supposed to be enjoying.
I'm using two Play:1 to complete my home theater system. They couldn't have been more simple to setup and they sound great. The overall Sonos system is operating just as I expected and is out preforming my old home theater system.

Attractive Design, Easy Set-Up, Good Power Outlet, Great Sound Quality

a bit on the expensive side, no hdmi connection
The sound if great but it has so many stupid things that come with it that I find it useless. 1) Does not work with youtube. 2) Doesnt allow you to play ap's of your choice and link the sound from your phone.
SONOS PLAY:1 REVIEW Firstly, like to thank Sonos for supplying the PLAY:1 for this review Features and Design Sonos are the leaders in the wireless streaming speaker world and have produce great speakers.
Just got 2 speakers so far & the audio quality is superb! We were listening to pandora on a small Bose Bluetooth speaker & that was good but these are amazing! Can't wait to get the next pair for our living room!
The sound quality out of the Sonos PLAY:1 is amazing! And the wireless integration is slick! I will buy more for other rooms in my house!
Great little speaker! Great addition to the other 2 play 1speakers and a play5 and a play3. Also I have the tv sound bar. My house is now full of music.
