As long as you take care during setup, the Sonos Amp offers enthusiasts a powerful blank slate to build a compact, high-performance audio system.

The compact Sonos Amp delivers the company's class-leading multiroom audio to speakers of your choice. The system offers more flexibility other Sonos systems. It's compatible with a wide range of streaming protocols and Alexa's voice assistant.

Numerous well-featured amps and receivers are available for less money. The Sonos Amp sounds too bright in its default mode and doesn't offer a calibration routine. The EQ settings needed to fix it are located deep within a nested menu system.
Sonos Amp is powerful enough to power proper speakers with conviction. And of course with full multi-room function.

Amp is very user-friendly and supports most power services. It has HDMI input, and the sound is finally powerful enough to drive quite proper speakers.

There is still a bit to go on when we talk dynamics and raw power. High definition sound is not supported, and why does TruePlay room correction not work with all speakers?
Replacing the old Connect:Amp, the new Sonos Amp is the more powerful product, but it’s smaller and neater than the original. Housed inside a small, black cuboid box (64 x 217 x 217mm), the Sonos Amp blends into its surroundings.

Flexible choice of speakers, Powerful and rich audio, Works well with vinyl, Decent TV audio

Expensive, No Trueplay with most speaker choices
As much as Sonos is a company that sells audio solutions, they’ve mostly stopped short of marketing themselves as selling to the audiophile. Instead, we’d argue that the real value that the Sonos brand and its offerings bring to the table is flexibility .
I replaced a connect:amp with the S2 compatible Amp so that I could use the S2 app. I have 10 Sonos components and attempted the install of Amp by following Sonos online support, but I was not successful. I called tech support and the most patient.

Difficult Setup
Was using an old Onkyo AV receiver with a Sonos connect for my turntable and a pair of floor speakers. When the Onkyo receiver broke down, replaced it with the Sonos Amp. Sound with the Sonos Amp is better than it was with the Onkyo, but it doesn't get quite as loud.
Purchased two Sonos amps fpr our in ceiling speakers....they work great and add easy access to two more rooms in our house using apps on our phone to play music. Setup was easy and seamless.
I tried a few cheaper Bluetooth options to power my ceiling speakers but kept having issues. I was hesitant to go with the Sonos Amp due to the price but I finally decided to take the plunge. I was pleasantly surprised at how easily it was to connect and integrate all of my streaming services.

Price
A bit pricey (SONOS needs to think about trying to lower the price)... but it does the trick. We had some ceiling speakers (not SONOS) that we didn't want to remove from the ceiling. Using this amp powered up the speakers and allows us to use them with the SONOS system.
Works flawlessly and seamless install. Was able to successfully mount to the back of my TV for an outdoor pair of speakers in a space limited environment.,
Using the amp with bundled Sonance garden speakers. Everything sounds amazing but the Sonos app leaves room for improvement. Sonos was also slow to fix an update that rendered the amp useless for far to long. Could not access it at all requiring multiple reset attempts.

Unreliable
Easy to install and set up. Worked right out of the box with my pre-installed wired in home speakers. Now I just need 7 more for the other zones in my house.
