I never owned a tripod with the craftsmanship this tripod provides. It is rock steady, solid built, the camera does not slip or move in the vertical position and the dials are very easy to navigate. Outstanding tripod. Used Bowen, Manfrotto and others previously. There is no comparison.
Quite simply the best tripod in terms of usability. The quick release device (only used on this tripod) is twice as fast as any other Ive used. The legs release and lock quickly. This is at least my fifth 212, having used it for over 20 years.
I use this in the way you would expect: as a support for my camera. Both my Canon and my iPhone. I would have given it 5 stars except for the fact that the quick release camera post is just a bit short. When I have it snugly attached to my camera it cannot lock into the camera platform.
I bought this tripod after reading reviews from other users in which they stated that they had used the same tripod for 25 or more years. This is a sturdy tripod, and no lightweight.
I've had this tripod for 20 years and it's still going strong. Great for macro work and uneven ground because of it's independent leg design.
I needed a more stable tripod and ordered this one. It is perfect for me and the work that I do. Great product and price. The ordering and delivery were effortless.
The first time I used this model of tripod was in the late 80s to control a VHS camcorder that was so heavy my parents got nervous when I tried to pick it up. It's suffered some damage, but has stayed in use though this review in 2018.
I bought my U212 in 1982 and still use it on a regular basis. I have purchased multiple tripods over the years, different heads, different materials.. At yet, I still love this tripod for the following reasons:1.
I was lucky to find it on the second hand market. It was alread 25 years old and after only few months the leg lever got broken. Either way I can-t think of better tripod.Absolutely sturdy, versatile, with flash sockets. I had 10 tripods so far and this one is a father of tripods.
I purchased this back in 1986 along with a couple of Canon T90's and I recently (December 2013) used it with my recent purchase of a Sony Alpha 77. During that time span I have gone through 3 different lens mounts and 3 different flash systems.
