I was shocked at how strong this tripod is for the price. Actually a little heavy but that makes it secure and safe when leaving the camera on board. Hold my canon 7d and 400mm lens just fine.
Only recently acquired. Now that I have it I agree with the reviews posted online eg
reasuringly solid all metal construction, decent p&t head, legs spread locking in 3 positions, good value
on the weighty side compared to CF equivalents, no foot spikes, no hook for a weight
I honestly don't think you'll find a better tripod for the money. Sturdiness, build quality and design all comparable to tripods over £100. Head operation is smooth and well-designed. Works perfectly. Toggles on legs are not slightly faffy, but they work well.
I bought this tripod primarily for astrophotography, but will also be using it to shoot a wedding soon too. For wedding photography I probably wouldn't recommend this tripod, as it is quite heavy to be carrying around all day and the turn screws on the legs don't make for quick adjustment.
Good Footing, Locks In Tight, Smooth Movement
I wanted a tripod that could handle a somewhat heavy zoom lens and that did not have flip locks (I've had bad experiences with them). It is solidly made, easy to set up and use and fairly lightweight.
I wanted a tripod that could easily handle a large (heavy) zoom lens and did not have flip locks on the legs (I've had bad experiences with them). The tripod was a bit heavier than I expected, but it is solid, well made and easy to set up and use.
This tripod is well put together, sturdy and extremely versatile.
One thing say's it all; I bought this tripod sometime between 1980 and 1985 and it is still going strong. That makes it between thirty and thirty-five years old and I don't use it all that often which is probably why it is still in almost-new condition.
Best tripod that i have ever used. Yes it is a little heavy but if you want your camera to be stable, you need it to be a little heavy. All around good tripod. It is very smooth and easy to use. I also like the hight that it can go as well.
This tripod is used in my portrait gallery and is mounted on a dolly. I was very pleased with the fine quality of this product resulting in good stability and reliable support.
