This is the third Slik Pistol Grip Head I have purchased in a twenty year span. Two were gifts to my children and one( the first one) was for me. I am a great fan of this item and have only 1 change I woukd like to see. It is a tension adjustment for the ball head.
Hold Pentax K-1 and Pentax 150-450 total weight 7.5 pounds in any position with out drift.
I use it for video camera. Its simpe to use and no shokking video's during a pan or a tilt in al directions. I whas mentioned by a friend but I was not happy to buy it in the USA. because of transportfee and taxes.
I use this as a quick use tripod head for flash portraits and find it very stable and successful for quickly reframing shots on the fly. It balances well, the trigger method is smooth and intuitive and the angle of the handle relative to the camera/lens direction adjusts well for ease of use.
Use for short and mind-length (Canon 70-200) lenses, stills and video Extremely stiff hold while utterly fluid adjustment with grip leveling bubble useful quick-release is indeed quick but also safe -- you have to take deliberate steps to release camera Had mine for ten years, no problems at all,...
After 20 years of use my Slik tripod Pistol Grip started to show signs of wear. It hadn't broken and was still working just fine, however the grip surface between the camera plate and the grip head had become brittle and was not holding the camera securing, particularly when the camera was in...
I had been using a rather old and stiff pistol grip head on and off for some time, but it was never satisfactory (too cheap and poorly designed). I decided to take the plunge and buy a serious alternative, the Slik AF 2100. Day and night.
I really like the flexibility and speed enabled by pistol grip tripod heads. I used to use a Manfrotto 222 Joystick Head, but it eventually lost all of its tension and just flopped around. (I tend to use heavier cameras, e.g., a Hasselblad and now the Nikon D800).
The pistol head provides all the flexible and stability you will ever need to get a great photo.
i've tried all of the other pistol grips out there, this is the best of them, not perfect, but works as its specs call for. very useful within its conservative weight range.
