I got this ball head to replace my aging Manfrotto 488 which has a loose panning lock. Sirui claims this head will support 55 pounds. I am running a D7000 with a Nikon af-s 300 f4 and this head will not stay put when carrying my camera over my shoulder and slips during shooting.
I will reserve a "10" for those heads costing 3x more. This seems as close to a 10 without costing like one. Can handle light or heavy loads and is a good match for the
light but solid, fine tension control, load bearing
none so far
Ive only used it a few times, but each time I was in below-freezing temps (around 23 F). I love the tension on this head - performed admirably for me. Had no issues while trekking through the woods with the camera on the tripod, flung over my shoulder.
Great upgrade to my old head. Super stable and a fantastic fine tune feature. Handles 36lb set up with no problems.
Really happy to get it.
I previously purchased a K-40x ball head to use on a new full sized tripod. I was quite pleased with it and found it to be equivalent to the Arca Swiss B1 head I had been using for the last 25+ years. So when I got a new travel tripod I decided Id give the K-20x a try.
I use this ball head with a Nikon D5300 with a 16-85 mm lens. The adjustable friction head works smoothly. The ARCA plate is quick to mount/dismount and has a slot to mount a strap, etc.
I really wanted to like this ball head as it has features I need. I have a Nikon D 7500 with a Sigma 150-600 contemporary lens, admittedly a heavy combination. I have other heads which hold it still even when moving it.
I bought this to go with my Sirui tripod. I have not used it in the field yet but like the feel of it. Seems to be well built. I looked at other ball heads with similar specs and they were more expensive. I will update the review once I have used it.
This is my first ball head. It is amazing. The friction for the ball movement is very smooth, as well as the panning mechanism; very sturdy and easy to manipulate.I am using it for photo (attached is a cropped sample) and video shots with a camera slider.
