updated comments: The bare 150-600mm lens alone is good but the combo of the lens and the teleconvereter has AF focal problem. Even so I did the maximum AF microadjustment both at the lens and my Canon 5D4, there still is serious back focus problem at 840mm focal length and long distance.
I love this thing. The images are sharp and except for the extra reach I don't even notice it. The biggest surprise for me was that it auto focuses at all apertures. I had read that f8 was the limit so I expected that using the big lens would mean shooting wide open if I wanted to use auto focus,...
A much improved version from the apo version obviously what ever yo stick in front of the sensor will reduce sharpness quality but would recommend the 1401
I am using this converter with a Nikon D7200 SLR camera and a Sigma 150 to 600 mm C lens. Its very well made and fits the Nikon body and Sigma lens perfectly. I have been testing its performance . The Nikon 7200 now Auto focuses at F9 and at maximum zoom you get an equivalent of 840mm.
Have already sent it back once as it stopped working. It's now stopped again.
Bought this specifically to use with Sigma's 100-400 "C" and my trusty Canon 6D. The lens alone works like a charm but with the TC-1401 the AF refuses to function, no matter what settings are used on camera and/or lens combo.
Item sent back as was not compatible with my camera
Excellent quality for the price
I tried this on my SIgma 150-600 and it worked extremely well, but I found that my Canon C100 would auto focus even with the 2X so I returned this one. It's a great product and sharper than I thought it would be but I wanted the longer reach for shooting orchestral videos form the back of the hall...
The AF doesn't work on my 150-600 C
