An updated version of Sigma's 8mm f/4 spherical fisheye, this is the field's widest circular fisheye with autofocus. It's also among the last Sigma film-era lenses to be upgraded with coatings that suppress reflections from digital sensors ("DG").
I've used fisheye lenses for most of my career and for the past 20 years have had to learn to use the circular fisheye lenses for one of my clients. The Nikon 8mm 2.8 fisheye was the best during film days, but finding one years after discontinuance makes them pricy.

I use the EF version of this lens with an EOS 6D. I've used it for both 180-degree IMAX style night time lapses and stitched 360 degree VR photography. Works great, very little chromatic aberration at the edges compared to other 8MM fisheye lenses that I've worked with.
This lens is the one to pull out when things are slow and wouldn't normally attract interest. With this lens, almost every photo taken is in a perspective never seen by anybody, and thus looks very unique.

Sharp all around! It is crisp and very sharp up until its far far edges. F/5.6 and higher get you sharper shots up until F/16. After F/16, you're just compensating for an intense light source., Versatility: The many uses it has can seem almost endless.

Sharpness below F/5.6: Tends to be a bit soft on distant objects, but thats not what the lens is for. The F/3.5 aperture is perfect for objects with no depth, such as astro-photography, but thats not a common photo. Eyes tend to not focus too well at F/3.5.

This lens is STURDY. Very high quality optics. Crisp, clear, and wide every time :D

used for panoramic view and tours. Best to shoot at least 3 photos instead of the two that the product can do - at least for a virtual tour
