For someone who is on a tight budget, this lens, having been upgraded to DG (digitally optimised) status, seems to have closed the gap slightly on its more expensive sister. The usefulness of the lens is greatly added to with its ability to focus down to less than a metre and anyone wishing to...

For a cheap, telephoto full frame/ 35mm lens, this lens is good. The image quality is good, and the macro setting is a nice added feature. However, the autofocus on this lens is very bad.

The price was great; however, it just didn't meet my expectations of a zoom lens.

Don't knock a lens just because you haven't learned enough about your camera and how it does or doesn't work with Nikkor and/or 3rd party lenses.

This lens does have a very wide focal range and is a very decent medium-grade lens. This lens uses your CAMERA'S auto focus motor so do not expect this lens to focus if you have a consumer camera such as a Nikon D40 or similar.

None really. You get what you pay for. There is MUCH nicer glass out there but you will obviously pay more for it.

Brilliant lens for the money, great macro lens with quick focus

Bought for our holidays next year. However my daughter borrowed it to photograph local boys football match. Her verdict was, once she got used to it, she thoroughly enjoyed using it. Great set of action photographs.

For an ameture on a budget it is excellent value compared to canon lenses. The only issue is that it has no stabilizer so tripod may be required for some shots.

For the price, you really can't go wrong. I was hesitant to buy a "generic" brand lens, but it works great. I'm an ammeture photographer looking to enhance my business and I think this is a great start for someone who doesn't want to spend $500 early in their career/hobby as a photographer.
