For someone who is on a tight budget, this lens, having been upgraded to DG (digitally optimised) status, seems to have closed the gap slightly on its more expensive sister. The usefulness of the lens is greatly added to with its ability to focus down to less than a metre and anyone wishing to...
Reasonable optical performance for price., Good close focus ability (1:2), Light enough to carry all day., Price.
Long extension when close focussed and zoomed., Front element and extension rotates during focussing, Performance drops off at longer focal lengths.

This lens is Solid ,sharp, great on a Pentax K5IIs
The lens got stuck on my camera and was very difficult to detach. Also, excessive coloring around the edges of pictures reduces the quality of pictures.
The price was great; however, it just didn't meet my expectations of a zoom lens.
Don't knock a lens just because you haven't learned enough about your camera and how it does or doesn't work with Nikkor and/or 3rd party lenses.
This lens does have a very wide focal range and is a very decent medium-grade lens. This lens uses your CAMERA'S auto focus motor so do not expect this lens to focus if you have a consumer camera such as a Nikon D40 or similar.
None really. You get what you pay for. There is MUCH nicer glass out there but you will obviously pay more for it.
Brilliant lens for the money, great macro lens with quick focus
works great with my Nikon
Been using for a week or so, good lens but a little soft at 300mm and the autofocus could be better but very good range. But no complaints for the price, cheap and cheerful.
Fits Canon DSLR perfectly and is fast and easy to use, takes very detailed close photos
Ok lens for amateur photographers, but needs a tripod at longer focal lengths as it does not have image stabalization. Pay more and get a better lens with stabilizer.
beautiful lens for Nikon 5100
