The Sigma 60-600mm F4.5-6.3 DG OS HSM Sports is an appealing lens for photographers who want a telezoom with decent wide-angle coverage, but it makes some compromises to get there.

+
10x zoom power. Superb fit and finish. Weather sealing and fluorine coating. Strong optical stabilization. Available for Canon, Nikon, and Sigma cameras.
-
-
Heavy. Big zoom sacrifices image quality versus shorter designs. Requires adapter for use with mirrorless systems.

It should come as no surprise that Sigma has produced a high quality telephoto zoom lens with powerfully long reach and a 10X zoom ratio. Many years ago Sigma introduced the 50-500mm f/4.5-6.3 zoom lens, affectionately called “Bigma” by its fans.

I think the tested Sigma will find many buyers and its excellent performance at the maximum focal length and, overall, throughout a wide range of useful focal lengths will make it a hit among photography fans who like capturing everything which flies.

distinct lateral chromatic aberration at 60 mm focal length,, weak performance against bright light,, too high vignetting on full frame.

A busy exhibition hall at Photokina 2018 was not the place to test in properly, however, so we’ll have to wait until a full review sample becomes available. However, it looks like the Sigma 60-600mm f/4.5-6.3 DG OS HSM | Sports could be the perfect super-telephoto superzoom for sports and wildlife...
This lens seems to live up to all the claims made in Sigma's press releases. The AF is very fast and accurate. AF in low light is actually quite good and the stabilization works very well. The close minimum focus distance is so much better than the Sigma 150-600mm C lens that I am upgrading from.
I was able to test this lens out at Photo plus before I purchased it. I tested it against a Canon 100-400 L mk II at matching focal lengths and apertures. The sigma lens was able to resolve more detail, so I bought one. Absolutely phenomenal performance since I purchased it.
I've had the lens for 4 days now and it seems to fit my needs perfectly. I have a Canon 6D and this lens is replacing my Canon 100-400 Mark I. I do wildlife photography, mostly birds, while hiking. I hand hold my camera. My old setup weighed 5.75 pounds, this lens/camera combo weighs 8 pounds.
Hi Folks, I have had for a long time a Sigma 50-500mm lens for my Canon 7D. This new 60-600mm is easy to use and has lots of new features. A better selection of focus modes as well as 2 different stabilizer modes.
Waited for the UK release of this lens, having used the 1t0-600mm C lens in the past. This one is much faster focusing, with an extra 90mm focal length at the short end & the added bonus of a built in macro lens when @ 200mm. It is heavy, but the build quality is the reason why. Can't fault it.
This is an update for my workhorse Sigma 50-500. Love the added distance. I'm a professional event photog & use this at all of the events (it's obviously a bit slow - so I up my ISO). This allows me to get the shots across the room and to capture candid moments without interfering with the moment.
Bought this for the 10x Optical Focal Length & so far very pleased with it. It is a bit heavy to hand hold after a while, but focusing is fast & accurate throughout the range.
