There are many reasons we decided to have this model at the top of our list. One of the things we liked is the overall construction of this piece. It offers great value for the accompanying price tag. This accessory is very versatile due to the fast maximum aperture.

The Sigma 16mm f1.4 DC DN is a wide angle lens designed for mirrorless cameras with 'cropped' APSC sensors. Sigma offers it in Sony E and Canon EF-M mounts, as well as for the smaller Micro Four Thirds format and can convert the mount at a later date for a fee.

When it comes to both types of detectors it would be difficult to find other instruments which could offer you something more than the Sigma. For the Micro 4/3 system you get the Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 17 mm f/1.8 which is, slower, optically inferior, and still more expensive than the Sigma.

  • +

good quality casing,, sensational image quality in the frame centre,, sensible resolution on the edge of the frame,, slight lateral chromatic aberration,, moderate vignetting,, nice out-of-focus areas,, silent and fast autofocus,, good price quality ratio.

  • -

a bit too high longitudinal chromatic aberration,, not completely corrected spherical aberration,, too high distortion,, coma visible in the corners of both types of detectors,, noticeable astigmatism.

The Sigma 16mm F1.4 DC DN C lens offers two classic focal lengths depending on the camera system that you use - either a wide-angle 24mm for APS-C compact system cameras, or a slightly longer 32mm for Micro Four Thirds cameras, which is close enough to the classic 35mm focal length.

Absolutely sharp lens, nearly perfect from f4.0 with one little problem.I discovered that f2.0 was quite fuzzy unless I focused manually. I was all set to return the lens until I read that this lens on a Sony camera has this little flaw unless one sets "Live View Display" to "Setting Effect Off.

Great lens! I got this for my A6000 and the pictures are very sharp. It's amazing how little light I need to take great looking pictures. This is a MUST have for anyone who owns a Sony E Mount camera. #sweepstakes

I am taking many pictures of paintings in museums and exhibits. I was using up to now a Sony 30mm prime lens. Most of the time you need a wider angle lens, either because you cannot get far enough from the painting or there are many people in front of you taking pictures with smart phones that have...

I have a Sony a6300. I use this lens mostly for news-style weather reports, I'm a meteorologist on TV. The f1.4 aperture is amazing and has a very shallow depth of field. The bokeh is awesome and really makes the subject in the photo or the video pop.

Love it... for my Sony A6000, so the lense is 24mm f2 great wide angle, sharp, clean, and easy to use. I use it for videos also (like vlogging). since the A6000 and the Sigma 16mm do not have OIS or any stabilization, the wide angle allows for those imperfections and does not disrupt the shot.

Bought this mainly to use with my A6300 and Zhiyun Crane gimbal for facility & landscape shots... It has now become my go-to lens for close-range shooting situations. Focus is sharp, colors look great, and awesome in low light. Have used for both photo and video with no complaints so far.

Have several lenses: 10-18 F/4, 18-135, 35 F/1.8 and this one. This lens produces sharpest images out of all Sony lenses I have. Great colors. Perfect for video and pictures in any light conditions. Going to be mounted most of the time on my upcoming trips. Focus is very fast.

As a nightlife content creator, this lens is an absolute MUST. It is a beast in lowlight, and I'm still shocked at how accurate and fast the autofocus is paired with my a6500. Keep in mind that being a wide-angle at 16mm, there is a hint of distortion, but too much.

I love, love, love this lens. Yes, there is a bit of distortion of facial features, but that is to be expected with a wide angle. It's not meant for portraits, but landscapes and scenery. It is super sharp, fast, is excellent in low light, and the bokeh is magnificent with that f1.4 aperture.

If you shoot in low light conditions this is a must have lens. Not only is it great in low light but with an ND filter you can shoot at 1.4 in any light and get great shallow depth of field shots even from a few inches away, which makes this a great macro lens as well.
