The Sigma 16mm F1.4 DC DN Contemporary lens, available for Micro Four Thirds and Sony APS-C mirrorless cameras, delivers tack sharp photos, even when shot at f/1.4.

  • +

The Sigma 16mm f1.4 DC DN is a wide angle lens designed for mirrorless cameras with 'cropped' APSC sensors. Sigma offers it in Sony E and Canon EF-M mounts, as well as for the smaller Micro Four Thirds format and can convert the mount at a later date for a fee.

High-quality optics with fast aperture ratings generally come with a big build and a high cost. This Sigma lens is beautifully built, handles really nicely and delivers sumptuous image quality.

  • +

    • Fast aperture rating, • Great image quality, • Compact and lightweight

  • -

    • No image stabilizer, • Not weather-sealed, • Pricier than its 30mm and 56mm siblings

When it comes to both types of detectors it would be difficult to find other instruments which could offer you something more than the Sigma. For the Micro 4/3 system you get the Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 17 mm f/1.8 which is, slower, optically inferior, and still more expensive than the Sigma.

  • +

good quality casing,, sensational image quality in the frame centre,, sensible resolution on the edge of the frame,, slight lateral chromatic aberration,, moderate vignetting,, nice out-of-focus areas,, silent and fast autofocus,, good price quality ratio.

  • -

a bit too high longitudinal chromatic aberration,, not completely corrected spherical aberration,, too high distortion,, coma visible in the corners of both types of detectors,, noticeable astigmatism.

The Sigma 16mm F1.4 DC DN C lens offers two classic focal lengths depending on the camera system that you use - either a wide-angle 24mm for APS-C compact system cameras, or a slightly longer 32mm for Micro Four Thirds cameras, which is close enough to the classic 35mm focal length.

Motor hums just a little but the lens is pretty solid all around.

Purchased this for the Sony ZV E10 and it is quite impressive. Fantastic low light performance and very sharp. Whether you’re blogging or trying to do low light photography/videography … this could be the lens you require.

Bought recently for my GH5 on the strength of numerous positive YouTube reviews. Sigma have good reputation, I've had a Bigma(50-500mm) for years now. I tested the16mm indoors only so far and I'm really impressed with its clarity in low light. Snaps to focus really quickly and great picture quality.

After watching few videos on YouTube about this lens I had to try it for myself and I am delighted with this lens. I do videos on YouTube too and vlogs. This lens is fast, silent and amazing quality like any other sigma lens, the built in of any sigma lens been always great.
