Bottom Line Sigma calls its 105mm F1.4 DG HSM Art lens the Bokeh Master, and it's an apt nickname—it blurs backgrounds like a champ.

The Sigma 105mm f1.4 DG HSM Art lens is also available for Canon EF mount, Sony E mount, as well as Sigma’s own SA mount, so more people can get in on this all you can eat bokeh buffet. Do I wish it weighed less and didn’t take up so much room in my camera bag?

There’s no denying this is a big, heavy and expensive lens, but the Sigma 105mm f/1.4 Art delivers sumptuous image quality with immense sharpness and clarity, along with beautifully soft and creamy blur. For portraiture, it’s spectacular.

Incredibly sharp and clear, Bokeh is near-perfectly smooth, Addition of weather seals

  • -

Will dent your wallet, As heavy as a telephoto lens

The 105mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Lens hits the streets as Sigma's longest focal length option in their ever-growing list of f/1.4 Art lenses (I'm already looking forward to the next one).

I've owned my share of lenses on all different systems. This lens is just pure stellar. It IS huge, and it does have some weight to it. But its not NEARLY as heavy as other people make it to be. I'd say its up there with a 70-200 F2.8 (but not long dimension wise.) Its def a conversation piece.

I owned this for Nikon and then when migrating to Sony I couldnt do this a disservice by buying an adaptor. I had some gripes with this on the D750- its focus was not fast, and not that accurate and needed some fine tuning out of the box (I probably had it at like -20?? come on!

The good:-Sharp image quality even under heavy cropping conditions-Bright; f1.4-Sturdy build quality with weight to match-Tripod collar shaped to fit into most tripod heads without needing mounting platesThe bad:-Starts to focus hunt in lower light situations e.g.

I have several nikon pro lenses (17-35 2.8, 28 -70 2.8. 85 1.4, 70 -200, etc) and several sigma primes (35 1,4, 50 1.4, 105 1.4) and in all cases the new art lenses are superior. The 105 1.4 focuses better than the nikon 85, and has superior image qualty at any f-stop, and has absolutely no vignette...

The image quality out of this beast of a lens is next level. The only draw back is the size and weight - but this image compression mixed with the depth of field is going to change the way you take pictures and shoot video (if youre strong enough to lift it).

Holy cow this lens is a beast! Its huge, its heavy, its bright, its fast and by far one of the sharpest lenses I own. I bought the Zeiss Batis 85 f1.8 at the same time and just shot with both on the same shoot to compare. Each are amazing but there is some special about the Sigma.

If youre versatile, and willing to take a chance of doing some sweet images-- this lens is for you. I tested it out with a basic product photography shown below and even took it out for outdoor photography for my street photography I normally do.

The Bokeh is amazing and I really love how sharp in focus is even at 1.4.

I got this lens for portraits and Id heard it was great and dang is it awesome! Continues to amaze me how sharp it is wide open. 105 mm is a great focal length for nice portraits. I have nothing bad to say about it. The weight really isnt an issue, it even comes with a strong lens strap.
