I follow Casey Neistat on YouTube and looked at his gear. This was one of the on-camera mics he used. I had to shoot a small wedding and I needed to be small and nimble so I shot it all handheld on my Canon 7DmkII with this Sure LensHopper mic.
Use this for my live Man-On-The-Street type of Video Gigs. The sound is strong. When used by itself it can be slightly Boomy unless you set the Gain as needed. I do no Post because I feed my Mics - Shure / AKG / Azden - into a Behringer 1002B Mixer. This Mic is very good and very smooth.
We do a lot of run and gun stuff and this mic works very well for that. We drop it on top of our 4/3 or video camera and go. It picks up a bit more background noise than our Rode videopro but it hones in nicely on the voice.
Just used this for an engagement shot on my secondary DSLR. For one of the two clients the sound was good. Not so much for the second who was a foot or so further away done as a second shot. In studio use and sound has been very good, but not as good as using a lav mic on the client.
I chose this over the rode videomic and am very pleased with it. The sound quality is great, easy to use and set up, feels more solid and durable than the rode mics and accessing the battery is much easier than the rode as well.
#sweepstakes;I love how it sounds, I am very satisfied.

Sound Quality
I bought this to attach to my Panasonic camcorder. TheVP83 really does have low noise characteristics, with enough features to cover the situations I encounter. However, I would like to see the 2 rear switches improved and enlarged. It is difficult to change their settings in the field.

Connectivity, Durability, Sound Quality
We have had the pleasure of using the VP83 for a couple of months now and it has been absolutely amazing for us. It is so much smaller than other microphones of a similar quality/price range, which makes it perfect for vlogging.

Durability, Ease of Use, Features, Portability, Sound Quality
I have given it a test drive and very happy with the shotgun mic.. Shure company tells all and delivers a great mic for my camcorder, does everything shure says it does. Small and powerful.
this shut gun mic is built to last and the designed is well thought of.
